To introduce the Crossgen Universe, the first issue of the quarterly comic Crossgen Chronicles was released with a June 2000 cover date. The company started out as an independent publisher in Florida, but was scooped up by Disney in 2004 when they were going into bankruptcy. In 2010, Disney turned the properties over to Marvel to use. Crossgen was an early adaptor to making comics available online. The first issue was 48 pages and took place on Earth 21371 and introduced Giselle, Sam, Ethan, Sephie, Genevieve, JeMerik Meer, Zanniati Orbatta, Skink, Ilahn, Ilan, House Sinister (Ingra, Gannish, Orium), House Dexter (Pyrem, Yala, Trenin), Bron, Skitter, Roiya, The First, The Skit, Ciress, and the Bitterluck. After three seasons, the last episode of Star Trek (TOS) aired on June 3, 1969. The series ran for 80 episodes. The episode was originally meant to air on March 28, but was pushed back due to coverage of the death of Dwight D Eisenhower. In the episode, Captain Kirk's (William Shatner) ex-lover Doctor Janice Lester (Sandra Smith) not only took over control of the USS Enterprise but took over his body as well. The events took place in the year 2269. In 2016, fans of the show voted it the 4th worst episode of the entire franchise. ("Turnabout Intruder", Star Trek TOS, TV, Event)

The Elseworld one-shot The Batman of Arkham was published with a pull date of June 2000. The issue took place circa 1900 where the psychologist Bruce Wayne ran the Arkham Asylum by day and was the vigilante Batman by night. ("The Batman of Arkham", DC Comic Event)

WarGames premiered on June 3, 1983. The movie was one of the first to feature computer hacking, which wasn't illegal until after this film. In fact, approximately 4 minutes of the film was used in the opening proceedings that lead to the Comprehensive Crime Control Act in 1984. It was also the first time a computer "firewall" was mentioned in a film. David (Matthew Broderick) was supposedly based on real-life hacker David Scott Lewis, Professor Falken (John Wood) on Stephen Hawking, and the WOPR NORAD computer on the BRGR NORAD computer. The NORAD set cost 1 million dollars, becoming the most expensive set at the time (those in the know have said it was more impressive than the real NORAD war room). Ally Sheedy, who played Jennifer, would go on to also star in Short Circuit (1986), which was directed by WarGames director John Badham. Screenwriters Lawrence Lasker and Walter F Parkes spent time with real hackers and would go on to make the hacking film Sneakers (1992). Matthew Broderick would also play a hacker in Farris Bueller's Day Off (1986). The largest hacker convention, Defcon, was named in honor of the film. WarGames was about a teen who thought he was hacking into a beta version of a new video game, but instead had hacked into a war simulator in NORAD, possibly leading the country into a nuclear war. The anthology comic Journey Into Mystery 69 was published with a cover date of June 1961. It was one of the first two comics to add MC to the cover for the change to Marvel Comics. Besides original material, the issue also reprinted a story from Journey Into Unknown Worlds 48. The Iron Giant segement took place in the Old West. The issue introduced Korilla, Charlie (created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby), Lonely Ben Perkins, and Annie the Living Train (created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Paul Reinman). The first issue of the anthology comic Amazing Adventures was published with a cover date of June 1961. The issue introduced Dr Droom, who when the story was retold in Weird Wonder Tales 19 (1976), would become the Marvel character Dr Druid. In Avengers Spotlight 37 (1990) it was revealed the Lama in the story was The Ancient One. The issue also reprinted a story from Journey to Unknown Worlds 38. The issue introduced Paul Ramsay, John Carter, Torr (also died), Pierre La Roc, (created by Larry Lieber, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko), Doctor Anthony Droom (Doctor Druid), Ramu, Yao, and Gorlion (created by Larry Lieber, Stan Lee, and Jack Kirby). Captain Marvel vol 4 6 was published with a June 2000 cover date. The issue introduced Kelly's father, created by Peter David and ChrisCross. The story made reference to an imaginary X-Men/Micronauts crossover titled Small X-Pectations as a joke. ("It's a Small Universe After All", Captain Marvel vol 4 6, Marvel Comic Event)

Batman Beyond vol 2 8 was published with a cover date of June 2000. The issue marked the first time in the comics that Miss Winston (introduced in the Batman Beyond episode "Black Out" in 1999) became Vendetta. ("Vendetta", Batman Beyond vol 2 8, DC Comic Event)

The Star Trek series Deep Space Nine ran for 7 seasons and the last episode aired on June 2, 1999. The Dominion War came to an end in along with the ending of the series. The events took place in 2375. Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) lead an assult force that included Klingons and Romulans against Cardassia Prime and the Founders. It was a race against time as Kai Winn (Louise Fletcher) and Gul Dukat (Marc Alaimo) attempted to free the Pah Wraiths from the Fire Caves. The episode was the highest rated of the whole series and voted second favorite episode of the whole series. ("What You Leave Behind", Deep Space Nine, TV, Event)

The series finale for Space Above and Beyond aired on June 2, 1996. The series only ran for one season of 23 episodes. The peace talks began with the Chig ambassador on the USS Saratoga. Meanwhile, the 54th were sent to rescue POWs, but the mission went bad, and they took heavy loses. ("...Tell Our Moms We Done Our Best" Space Above and Beyond, TV Event)

G.I. Joe 12 was published with a cover date of June, 1983. The issue introduced the scar faced Cobra officer. The issue began in the middle of a high-speed gun battle on the streets of San Francisco between Scarlett, Clutch, Breaker, and a van full of Cobra agents (including the scar faced one) with several civilians put in jeopardy. Clutch ended up getting shot in the leg by the scar faced Cobra. The scar faced Cobra escaped. In the wreckage of the van, they learned he was heading to Sierra Gordo with important computer chips. Flagg and Hawk decided to send a team made up of Breaker, Stalker, Snake-Eyes, and Gung-Ho in persuit. There, they were confronted by Doctor Venom and the mercenary Kwinn. Upset at Snake-Eyes getting the better of Doctor Venom when they met in Springfield, Venom appeared to beat Snake-Eyes to death. His body was left in a burning warehouse. Snake-Eyes was using a Ninja technique to fake death. However, he almost died for real. By the time he revived himself and tried to escape, he was on fire. Luckily, the factory was off a river and was able to dive in to extinguish the flames. Upset at what was happening, Kwinn declared this was his last mission for Cobra. Clutch, Stalker, and Gung-Ho escaped in a boat with the computer chips they came to retrieve while Snake-Eyes prepared to assault a Cobra bunker that held the Baroness, Kwinn, Doctor Venom, the scar faced Cobra and vials of a new Cobra viral weapon. The Baroness and the scar faced Cobra got in an airplane and blew up the boat the Joes were in, though they were able to jump out. Snake-Eyes saved Kwinn from being shot in the back by Doctor Venom in a double cross. Since the chips were destroyed and the virus on the plane, the Baroness decided Kwinn and Venom were now redundant, so blew up the island they and Snake-Eyes were on. The novelization of the film The Abyss was written by Orson Scott Card based on a screenplay by James Cameron and was published June 1, 1989. Card fleshed out the technology and the characters and gave them back stories. Cameron was so impressed that he added dialogue to film to reflect some of those events created in the book. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock was released on June 1, 1984. Producers were reluctant to let Leonard Nimoy direct, who had never directed a feature film, but he refused to return as Spock if they didn't. The bad guys were originally going to be Romulans, but changed to Klingons. They kept the Romulan bird of prey ship instead of spending the funds to build a Klingon ship. Due to a contract pay dispute, Robin Curtis took over the role of Saavik from Kirstie Alley. In order to save the thought dead Spock and avenge Kirk's murdered son David (Merritt Butrick), James T Kirk (William Shatner), "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley), "Scotty" (James Doohan) Chekov (Walter Koenig), Sulu (George Takei), and Uhura stole a decomissioned USS Enterprise. They were hunted down by Klingons lead by Kruge (Christopher Lloyd). The movie not only saw the rebirth of Spock, but it also show cased the destruction of the USS Enterprise. Cable 80 was published with a cover date of June 2000. The issue introduced the capital city Niers on the planet Harmony in the Earth-22073 continuity. The issue also introduced Eyla Cire, Manuel Cire, Ezra Cire, Clarity, Greg, Lea, Jason Cross, and Karen Gleason, created by Robert Weinberg and Michael Rya. The people of Harmony offered to cure Nathan of his technovirus. ("Cauldron Bubble", Cable 80, Marvel Comic Event)

The one-shot Sins of Youth: Wonder Girls was published with a cover date of May 2000. The issue was part of the Sins of Youth event. Apollo arranged for Diana and Cassie to be captured by the Agenda, who already had Superboy Sr. The issue introduced Cyclon, created by Brian K Vaughn and Scott Kolins.
