"Gee Wiz" Back to the classic era of 50s Sci-fi this time with a guilty pleasure of Invaders from Mars, unfortunately quite inferior to the more we'll known 50s films of War of the worlds, The Thing from Another World. Invaders however still is a joy to view, and have a good laugh, however this film did scare me as a child, due to orchestral score during the "sandpit" scenes. Curious adolescent boy David MacLean (Jimmy Hunt) confronts aliens who have set up base in his backyard. The extraterrestrials intend to use mind control on the local townsfolk. Determined to stop the invaders, who have already co-opted his father and mother, he attempts to warn others. But when local law officers also succumb, David teams up with a local astronomer and psychiatrist, together the trio must fight together to repel the insidious intruders. Made with a quite noticable shoe-string budget, Invaders is rather more of laughable camp especially during its final act and the designs of the "mutons" themselves, however in knowing what it is, the film still attempts to bring the audience a different perspective through an invasion, with having a child the main focus and told through his eyes, is a great way to see the seriousness and the disbelief when he attempts to warn others of what he saw. Although not in the same league as other 50s Sci-fi, Invaders is still a fun classic 6/10 ~Mr Myers #moviereviews #50smovies #50sSci-fimovies #invadersfrommars1953 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQeDx-2Fki6/?utm_medium=tumblr
