I think I'm starting a new thing called #AmpliFriday because #amps just don't get the love they deserve. Here's an inexpensive way to get into a #vintageamp: a1960-ish #National model #1201 #amplifier spotted at @tgscan in #Toronto, Canada. Made in #Chicago, approximately 5 watts (tubes: #12AX7 preamp, #6V6 power, and a #5Y3 rectifier...Just like a #Fender #Champ). It even has the original replacement fuse in an envelope stapled to the inside of the cabinet (see inset photo at bottom right). Unopened since ~1960! At $550 CAD (just over $400 USD) it's about 3 - 4 times cheaper than a #FenderChamp of the same era, and according to @tgscan's @robbcappelletto, whom I trust implicitly on these matters, it sounds BETTER than a Champ anyway! #vintageamps #nationalamps #vintagenationals #fenderamps #vintagefenders #guitar #guitaramps #guitarphotography #ampphotography

Here's one for the #amplifier nerds. It's the #tube #chart in my #tweed 1957 #Fender #Champ. I pulled the #5Y3 #rectifier tube (dated 26th week of 1957) and the #6V6 #powertube (dated 22nd week of 1957) to get this shot. The tube chart code says "GF" which means the #amp was built in June, 1957. In fact I'd say it would have to have been late in June - if the 5Y3 made in the 26th week (which would be the last week of June!) is to be believed. #amps #vintageamps #vintagefender #fenderamp #guitar #guitars #guitarphotography
Webcor amp
I traded a Fuzz Factory Clone for what looks like an old PA that’s been modified to work as a guitar amp. The Webcor has two speaker connected with what looks like a giant oil and paper capacitor. One speaker looks to be about 6 inches across and the other is about 4 inches.
There are four tubes: 12ax7, two 12ab5 and a 5y3-gt rectifier. I’m not the tube expert, but it looks like the 12ax7 is used as an input preamp. The two 12ab5 tubes are set up in a push pull configuration. From what I’ve read it sounds like the two 12ab5s put out about 9w max. The amp is pretty quiet, good for mellow practice.
Here’s a few pictures.
