Final Days at Fairfax City
In a week I will be enjoying a night’s sleep fifteen miles to the east in Alexandria. So as these remaining days in the ‘city’ fly by, I’d like to do my best at remembering their somewhat interesting characteristics.
It’s been an interesting ride at this place. For the most part I’ve felt largely and interloper while staying here. However, over the course of 2016 I’ve ironically grown to be interested in the city I found so lame. Tonight I walked down the path behind my house that leads past an old church, the same one I punch in Bernie Sanders for the Virginia Primary. The emerald flashes of fireflies radiated up to the tops of the larger pines that paraded along the path. I’d ride my bike down this path to Hunan Panda as a way to resolve some regret after eating an unhealthy and unruly portion chicken and rice dish. I’ve already given them my first official good bye, along with the staff at FOMS.
“You wanna have some win with us?
“Hah, I’d love to!” furiously paying attention to my computer screen.
It turns out they were having some type of Friday celebration and they were serving wine along with cheese and of course crackers. I resisted the urge with a phone call from Brandt being worse than any relaxation that would have offered me at 5:00 pm with an empty stomach. What a ride this has been. I don’t know how well I did honestly, I tried really hard, or at least as hard as I could at something I found irritating and frustrating. Back to Fairfax
Sketching out the area on my bicycle to fight the fat kid emotions brought a deeper sense of this place. Because of that I know every park in this tiny downtown area; which are all mostly disappointing. Fairfax Villa Park outshines any others with its conservative properties, that un-raped nature I’ve so thoroughly enjoyed. With roots to Native America tribes and a historic tract of railroad as old as the civil war, it gives you a unique vibe. The best view here is from the beginning of the trail which displays a somewhat typical bending stream that’s carved out a small flood plain. With the trees being wiped out or having little remaining soil, the sunlight passes through and illuminates the scene.
When you feel like no one is on your side and then your 2 best friends start sending you funny pictures and telling you jokes to make you feel better. Happy to know that i still have friends that care about me, after everything these past couple of months.
Thank God for not leaving my side
I would like to thank God for giving me another day. I wasn't for sure if I was going to be seeing the light of day today, so thank you. Thank you for controlling my car and calming my mind. Thank you for making me think over everything before I decided on anything. Thank you Lord. Thank you.
Pros:
I don’t have to go to work tomorrow!
Cons:
I got fired.
I always feel like somebody's watching me.
