2015 „S 600 Royale“.
So you’re a millionaire, hanging out in your garage. You got a bunch of Benzes there. The SLS AMG, the SLR and a brandnew S 600 (W222), but you find them all boring. What you really admire is the grandeur of classic Mercedes designs, but you don’t have enough style to drive them. The statesmanlike 600, the immaculate hood and grille of w111 Hochkühler coupés, the dynamic elegance of the 300 SL gullwing.
What are you gonna do? Play Frankenstein: headlights from the SLS, interior from the new S 600, w111-like grille and wheel caps, door parts and air intakes from the SLR and gullwing.
Now, does it look anything like a 600? No. Does it look like an adequate tribute to the classic designs of Karl Wilfert and Paul Bracq? No. Does it look like an ugly bastard? Yes. A one-off experiment, fortunately.
