listen, i get too much of my life’s pleasure from eating to have much desire for the nutritionally complete paste/kibble/brick. that said, i do want a Perfect Electrolyte Hydration Potion that, within 10min, cures all headaches/nausea/dizzy spells and rebalances my salts, sugars, potassium, iron & humors.

i started this in september for the zine fest, this still counts! i thought, hmmm i’ve been listening to heaps of various forms of space scifi, what could i possibly do a zine about?

this was my first ever zine! i think i might do a follow-up of honorable mentions that didn’t make it in, i already had to modify the format cuz i had too much to say xD

okay okay dan da dan. everyone said the MCs have crazy chemistry and it's true. they said okarun's devoted to her and it's true. they're dorks, and they're so awkward, but it's also so real. i love the shots that linger on their faces, like when momo is trying to work up the nerve to say smth to him in the nurse's office b4 her friends bust in. they're both so earnest about wanting to hang out together and be friends, and yet still insecure? after going thru the WRINGER when he first gets cursed. literally seen each other naked and scared adn vulnerable and whiny and brave and selfless and selfish and brash.

i love the animation. from momo's phone flashlight rippling thru the debris in the hospital in ep1 i have been admiring the animation. there's so many elements and style to it, beautiful and flashy and smooth at different points. the acrobatic silky ep was fascinating when it shifted to her pov, looking around the rainy street. or when the camera was panning around during the water ep, emphasizing how the new environment existed in all directions. the combining of elements and styles works really well for a show about aliens and yokai, the mishmash of magic and psychic domains.

and the music! remix of cancan for the chase scenes! the voiceacting! theyre so whiny, overexcitable teenagers. i really like moku and miko, they shine every time they're around. i think the show does good character work. basically all the characters are excellent, and realistic(ally annoying, the lot of them), aira and jiji etc etc

buuut i have to say that i had to stop midway thru the first ep to look for a dtdd page and wound up reading reviews on like commonsensemedia?, bc the alien assault scenes are. quite harrowing. wildly uncomfortable, extra scary cuz they're teenagers. and it's a liiittle glossed over, which i'm torn on cuz,, i dont have to think about it too hard! it would be a different show if they spent time focusing differently/more on the implications. maybe they will do trauma later idk. look up the warnings so ur not caught too off guard. but hey! this is a show where they spend a lot of time naked! the macguffin is okarun's magically detached genitals! i'll try not to be too american about it. (bbbut also the s1 finale totally leaves off with momo in a similar situation AGAIN :( like. acrobatic silky probably demonstrates they are thinking about these themes genuinely? idk idk.)

feeling a little crazed and i just reached up to press pause on my earbuds but. i’m not wearing any. i was just thinking too fast. what i just tried to do was physically hit pause on my train of thought?

bank teller n i had a whole phone conversation, finished our interaction, and were going to hang up when she quickly blurts, “wait, this is cons, right?” and i realize she had simply pulled up my account using my phone number, and then we had both forgot the part of the conversation where she asks my name and i give my account info 😅
