my thing that i haven’t seen in other dickinson fics. well there’s a lot of them. but one prominent thing is this very specific flavor of size kink that’s secretly a competency kink underneath the physical aspects of it. bc like obviously sam is a Big Guy. and reading that article about his hockey journey he’s been a big guy for pretty much his whole life and that was his way of entry to hockey in some ways. and so i don’t think there’s arousal just at the thought of him being a Big Guy and other people being smaller. because like, that’s just normal. it’s how things always go.

what does make him get a little hot under the collar is when he’s being his big guy self and it doesn’t matter because someone else (cough cough mack cough cough misa cough cough sid) is too skilled/talented for his size to be an advantage. so it’s look at how much bigger i am (size kink) -> look at how much it doesn’t matter because of how awesome this person is (competency kink). and yeah the feeling of being kind of below someone but still getting attention etc is also a part of it probably
