The circuit board of the silver label C64 contains quite a few gold and ceramic parts. That golden 6581 SID chip alone is incredibly desirable to many collectors.
I’m told many Commodore 64′s from this era were not so much refurbished as replaced due to their technical flaws. Many were simply outright destroyed to remove the defective early design revisions from circulation. This is the C64 that Commodore didn’t want you to see.
