5 watts ➡️ 2 x 12. . Here's my #GibSunday afternoon noodling rig: 1961 #LesPaul Junior into transitional 1964 #5F1 #FenderChamp. . But instead of using the 8" built in Champ speaker, my amp tech, @marshalllespaulfan wired me up a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter cable so I can disintermediate the stock speaker and plug into a BIG cab! Here I'm using the 2 x 12 from my 1964 #6G6 #Bassman. One of my complaints about the Champ has always been that with its small box and small speaker it can lack...erm..."hugeness". Well...problem solved! This rig sounds massive! 🤣 . The Mighty #Musicmaster. . Here is one I am sure my friend @tomojustfunky will appreciate. No one makes these guitars sound better than Tomo does! But even for an average (ok, "mediocre" 🤣) player such as myself, if you don't think a 3/4 size single pickup #studentguitar can sound good, I challenge you to plug a 1961 #FenderMusicmaster in a 1964 tuxedo #6G6 #Fender #Bassman and take it for a spin. I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised! . Note: for best results don't forget to turn up the #amp a bit (note the volume setting on the #bass channel here...the basement windows were rattling, let me tell you! 😆). For most of my life, I controlled my overall volume by keeping the #guitar volume on 10 and setting the amp volume low. However, I have recently discovered that I get a better sound at low volumes by turning the amp way up and turning the volume down on the guitar. The amp just sounds better when it is being driven a bit, even if the input signal is low. One weird side effect though is an abundance of treble. So I find I have to roll off the tone control on both the amp and the guitar. The amplification is a bit of a hybrid: a 1964 transitional #5F1 #Fender #Champ with the stock 8" speaker unplugged and an RCA-to-1/4" adapter cable connecting it to the 2x12 that belongs to my 1964 #6G6 #Bassman. .
