Yeah okay, peak as fuck. As soon as this was announced I was on board because main girl's design is about as Joshcore as it gets, and as we got closer to release and saw a few more PVs it became obvious that this show was going to be a really interesting watch. Throw in a good friend hyping it up as well, yeah I'm definitely looking forward to it. And it was very good. Admittedly I haven't watched the majority of the season's premieres so this doesn't mean a lot but this is definitely my anime of the season at present and it really isn't close either. Your narrative setup is pretty straightforward with some details here and there and MC's characterisation keeping it refreshing, but it's the presentation more than anything that makes this really compelling. This show refuses to look boring, most of the time it really doesn't look like anything else happening in TV anime. The lineless artwork and tons of the shots are so particular, I can't really describe the headspace I was being put in but I couldn't look away. Music as well - there's very little but they're so deliberate in the musical cues and more than that the use of silence, it demands your attention in a really good way. I learned after the episode that this was by the days with my stepsister director, and will I did drop that show it had some crazy fucking unique and inventive cinematography and I'm really excited to see what this show will come up with as well. Excellent time. Friend won the adaptation lottery.

oomf Jane and I were jokingly hyping the fuck out of this up while also dreading the experience of actually watching it, and hey we just watched it together. This is ugly as fuck and excessively heavy handed and I think it will come to thematic conclusions that are questionable at best, but Charlie specifically is such a weird and funny character in ways clearly intentional but also feeling unintentional at the same time, to where I think I'm compelled to watch just one more episode to look for Charlie hype moments and aura. Who knows maybe I'll gaslight myself into finishing it. I want to stop watching mid seasonals if I can help it but alas I will probably never get away from my tendency to watch the really funny bad ones too. Such is life.

Your backstory is I was watching pluto TV with oomf Jane and the original Samurai Troopers came on and we watched a few episodes and they were like very late into the show or whatever so we had no real context or appreciation. Anyway like a little bit later they announced this reboot/sequel thing, oomf Jane and I were like yeah absolutely let's watch together, and today we did. To be honest I expected it to be completely dogshit or at least painfully mediocre but instead it was genuinely insanely peak. Just fucking balls to the wall crazy action and gore and weird as fuck hype antagonists that sit and sing songs as they kill people and bishie boy character designs getting slaughtered, the red sentai being a fucking antagonist, like shit was actually so fucking hype I really was at the edge of my seat the entire episode. Absolutely going to continue because this was such a pleasant surprise. Incredible feeling not just being wrong about a show being bad but being this wrong about it. Peak.
