PLOT DROP, DAYS 9 AND 10 //

With the addition of the mermaids and kraken in previous days, the gamemakers take a step back and allow the tributes to take centre-stage, interacting with each-other and their environment. Slowly they decrease in number, one by one, until only three remain standing.

On the morning of the tenth day, the opening notes of Panem’s national anthem can be heard from above before Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane’s voice addresses the tributes directly:

“The ship will be leaving the dock in one hour. It would be in your best interests to be on it. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favour.”

The skeleton and parrot mutts will attempt to shepherd any tributes back towards the dock, where the boat they first arrived on almost two weeks ago has turned to face the way it came.

Aspen, Royce, and Misty each are pulled from their corners of the island. The final battle, much like the first, will take place on board. And this time only one of them is coming out the other side.

THIS IS IT.

The final battle begins now and will conclude JULY 27, 2019 at noon EST, at which time the post-Games event, the 78th Victor’s Ball, will commence. All tributes have been messaged with their status from today’s battle. Remember: it is up to our tributes to choose whether they will keep the results a secret or not!

PLOT DROP: DAYS 3 AND 4 //

The first two days in the Arena have gone by without much fanfare. As tributes explore the Arena, get to know the terrain, the Capitol audience is entertained with the Bloodbath fallout and the sheer . But as the third day dawns, the lack of deaths has them itching for some entertainment. And early in the morning on day three, muttations are released into the Arena.

In the cave, there are bat mutts with sharp claws and poisonous teeth, as well as skeleton mutts who chase tributes, aiming to hit them with hard wooden clubs. In the JUNGLE, dozens of parrot mutts have been released. They function like jabberjays, repeating anything they hear from the tributes in the Arena. Don’t go spilling all of your plans around these mutts: you never know what other tributes will hear them!

Starting now and concluding SATURDAY, JULY 6 at 11:59 AM EST, you are free to play out events that occur over days three and four. The first survival raffle has occurred and all affected tributes have been notified. If you did not receive a death notice, your tribute will advance to the next week!

ARENA MAP //

Your tribute will begin the Games on a pirate ship, with all of the supplies piled around the centre mast. At the sound of the gong, the boat will move toward the docks as the Bloodbath rages on, giving tributes the opportunity to exit the boat once they have their items. Tributes can run away by either leaping into the water and swimming to shore, or by hiding on the boat until it docks. While tributes can stay on the ship, it serves as the Cornucopia and does not have much to offer outside of the initial launch. It will remain docked for the duration of the Games.

The dock lines the southern edge of the island, and is dotted with a small abandoned village. Unfortunately, it appears as though a band of pirates have ransacked the island before you got here. There are hardly any supplies to be found in the homes that line the dock, though they do provide shelter. Some canned goods can be found on the shelves, though the pirates have taken almost everything and any canned goods found are extremely scarce.

As you make your way out of the pirate village, you notice paths on the ground that lead into a massive jungle. Small wooden signs direct you through the jungles, with directions guiding tributes to the Caves, the Lagoon, or the Beach.

THE JUNGLE // Full of dense vines and trees, the jungle is hard to navigate outside of the designated paths. However, braving the darkness and thick tangles of plants provides camouflage from your fellow tributes.

THE CAVES // The caves are represented by the grey shape on the map. They wind and twist, with marked entrances in four different places. They provide shelter, but are dark and hard to navigate without a source of light. It is unknown at this point what may lurk inside.

THE LAGOON // The lagoon contains the only fresh water in the Arena, and it is clear, sparkling, and safe to drink. But getting the water leaves you vulnerable to the dangers that lurk in the jungle all around you.

THE BEACH // All around the jungle, on the perimeter of the island lies exposed beach and a saltwater ocean: perhaps the salty water could ease a wound you may have sustained, though is it worth the risk of being seen?

The Arena is surrounded by clear ocean water. And what’s that in the distance? Could it be a SHIPWRECK? Good swimmers may be able to find a place to wait out their competition out on the wreck that sits half out of the water, crashed against some jagged rocks.

The mysteries, secrets, treasures, and dangers of the Arena will continue to be revealed in the coming weeks.

78TH GAMES // ARENA UNIFORMS

The tributes for the 78th Games are dressed in traditional sea-faring gear from by-gone years. They each wear a pair of khaki pants, a loose-fitting white shirt, and a sash in their district’s colour. They also each have a pair of tall leather boots, and a tri-corn hat.

The girls each wear a small leather vest, while the boys have a matching jacket.

PLOT DROP //

TRIBUTES // You board the hovercraft to the Arena early in the morning. Once arrived, you are separated from your District Partner and are escorted into a room in the catacombs beneath the Arena. While you wait, you stylist helps you dress in your Arena uniform. All tributes wear a pair of slim khaki pants, a loose white shirt, a sash and a three cornered hat in their District colour, and a pair of boots. Additionally, the girls have a small leather vest, and the boys have a jacket.

Your pod in the corner opens, and your tribute steps into the clear tube. Your stylist leaves the room, leaving you alone for a few minutes. Suddenly, you feel the tube pitch slightly to one side, then the other, a rocking motion shaking you toward the edges of the tube. The tube steadies again, and you finally rise into the Arena.

You open up into a bright, sunny space and are surrounded by your foes and potential allies alike. Under your platform is a wooden floor. You notice the tributes are in a full circle, instead of a semi circle, and that there is no Cornucopia. The floor beneath you moves ever so slightly as the breeze rushes against your face. Tributes from District Four know this feeling well. You’re on a boat: a large one, with supplies piled around the main mast instead of inside a Cornucopia.

Around you, the ocean extends in every direction. But in the distance, to the northeast, you can see an island. It raises up into a forested area in the centre, and you can see rocks jutting up above the trees. Whether you realize it or not, the boat begins to move, carrying you and your fellow tributes toward the island.

The countdown blasts in your ears. Eyes narrow, knees bend, and shoulders tense. It’s time. Let’s do this.

The gong sounds and the chaos erupts around you.

THE BLOODBATH //

The following is a summary of the events of the 78th Games Bloodbath. Please note that if your tribute was drawn to fight another and you cannot see it happening ic, it does not have to be played out as a literal fight. The most important thing is that the winner gets the item, and the other tribute is injured. You can find some examples here:
