Whimsical Merlins

Nothing to see here, just me demolishing the canon events with my abominations (OC):

Arthur actually got angry and goes batshit after knowing that he’s been used by Merlin all this time and even way more after he saw how dangerous chaotic power could get. He’d rather stay dead than being resurrected as a threat to Britania.

Cath stepped in seemingly heroically to calm Arthur down in a dramatic way, once Arthur have calmed down and lower his guard, Cath tried to bite Arthur’s head off but he dodged in time and lost his arm instead.

Arthur couldn’t believe that the one who risked his life to help him just a few seconds ago was trying to eat him, that’s why Arthur was slow to accept the fact that he was betrayed by the last remaining friend that he thought he could trust. Denial is the first stage of grief.

The reality took a few dialogues to sink in, then he snaps. He did a good beating out of Cath, let out all of his pain and anger. The fight ended up in Arthur eating Cath out of spite and wasn’t in his right mind just yet.

With all of the heat have been let out, he’s more calm than before and was able to think it through, he forgives Merlin but “From now on i will only view you as a tool like you did everyone.”

Yes i love to torture my fav character, but wait, there’s more. During his coma, he dreamt of many things but i will only highlight the ones about Venus.

The first dream was replaying a memory:

A few years prior, Arthur confessed his feelings to Venus and promised to free them from their slave contract but was denied.

Arthur was alright with Venus not able to return his love, what’s important is that he got his pent up feelings out of his chest and no matter what, Arthur will try to give Venus the freedom that they want.

What came after Arthur basically pouring his heart out was an uncertain expression painted across Venus face: “Are you sure?”

Now onto the second dream:

Venus’ naked silhouette sway majestically with dancing flames and roaring screams of agony and terror. He could’ve ran but he stood there, entranced or likely frozen in bewilderment. He flinched when Venus’ eyes met his.

“You said you wanted to free me, i hope you don’t regret your decision?” They became a completely different person, or that was who they really are, a monster.

“My, who am i kidding, of course you do… and i love you like that, dear Arthur.”

Before he realizes, Venus started strutting torward him proudly, with arms outstretched, reaching for his neck but circled around it.

He finally got himself to react “No”

“Hmm?” Venus look at him a dreamy gaze like a beautiful sunset, so that is how their eyes truly looks like. That made Arthur swallows, he would’ve dived in for a kiss, to feel their body against his but at that moment he was terrified.

“I regret nothing.”

Venus smiled, press their body against his for a hug and whispered-

“L I A R”

And then he jolts awake, cold sweat all over his face, his hands didn’t felt the softness of mattresses nor the hardness of the ground, he found himself suspending mid-air with Excalibur no longer stuck in his chest.

Okayyyy now back to where he returns to Camelot and only find rubble

Arthur’s reaction was numbness, taking slow steps to the direction of where his castle was supposed to be.

This pains Merlin, she dared not speak up because guilt have swelled up her throat. Arthur have become a different person because of her, but she must endure her own pain and guilt that she brought upon herself and everyone, for this is what she wanted: The resurrection of Chaos. It doesn’t matter if Escanor or Arthur or even Meliodas got lost in the process, as long as Chaos return to their reign, she’ll get what she wants.

Life only returns to his eyes when he sees motions on the ground not far ahead, it’s Nanashi, looking around to make sure there’s no threat and his eyes eventually met Arthur.

Before he knew it, Arthur ran straight to him, full speed when he saw his people start to crawl out of their hiding and scream in joy when they see their king being safe and sound.

The last to come out of the hole underground was Venus, ensured the remaining citizen to get out safely before getting out awww. At first Arthur is wary of Venus, that dream’s aftertaste was still etched in his mind, but seeing Venus aiding his people with care, he brushed it aside and pulled Venus in for a tight hug.

No one slept that night. Arthur used chaos to give his fallen people a proper burrial, to test his control over it, to realize that it’s not so chaotic as long as his heart was in the right place.

He turn his gaze from the dead to his remaining subjects, promise to himself that he’ll rebuild Camelot beter than ever before and lasts forevermore for eveyone.

The fact that there were survivors stopped Arthur from loosing himself, if none of them survived, he would’ve give up rebuilding Camelot and focus on regaining all of the Chaos power instead so he could turn all races into human.

Seems to make Escanor being jealous of Arthur actually make sense?

Like when Escanor was being weird and jelly about Merlin being sad for Arthur after Cusack made him impale himself, I thought it was...confusing. Like, sir, that is a child. That is her child. And I'm like very sure Merlin NEVER saw Arthur anywhere close to romantic. I've always been very certain that she saw him as her own kid.

But apparently that feeling was not mutual, and it seems like Escanor kinda picked up on that from the get go? So weird...

We just have so many reasons not to like Arthur these days...

And if you're wondering this is a au version of Merlin and Arthur even though I think the Merlin and Arthur from the seven deadly sins and the four nights of the Apocalypse manga could be together since there's only a three to four year age difference between them as of right now but because Merlin is technically still 8 years old physically and it's just using magic to disguise herself as a woman even if Arthur was attracted to the adult form of her I just feel it's a bit weird so this is a au version of them where Merlin is an adult woman I explain it more below
