Austins lips felt hot against my neck, so hot that I couldn’t help but let out a small moan “Come on...dont hold back baby I wanna hear it” He whispered into my ear before nibbling on it. Alans POV It was a few days after Austins halloween party and i still couldnt stop thinking about What happened no matter how much t hurt to think about. I decided to go as Ron Weasly just because he was the only ginger i could really think of. Once i got downstairs the part had been going on for almost two hours. "Alan! Uh...we should go for a smoke!" Justin yelled around two second after i got down the stairs. "Well first just ket me go find Kayla" Justin and Aaron looked at each other nervously and pulled at my arms, dragging me outside the door"Shes well taken care of....trust me" Aaron said and smirked, justin punched him and glared. "Okay what the fuck is going on?" i asked once i lit my smoke. Justin sighed before pointing to the window behind me, I turned around and felt my heart break. There was the first girl i liked since my last girlfriend had passed away in a car crash, making out with my cousin. "Im sorry bro" i heard justin say as he put his hand on my shoulder, I brushed it away and went inside. "Oh hey there little cousin" Austin said with a smirk on his face once i got near them. Kayla turned around in Austins arms and frowned "alan...this isnt what it looks like!"Austin laughed and i rolled my eyes "Not what it looks like? Really Kayla? ....Just fuck off!" i snapped at her before heading to my room. Around twenty minutes later i heard a knock at my door"Can i please come in Alan?" i heard a small voice say "Sure fine...what the fucking ever" i said as i rolled my eyes. Kayla walked in and stood at the doorway a for a few seconds before sitting down beside me on my bed "Look Alan....im sor-" "No just stop there i already know what youre going to say!" I interrupted and she looked at me with sad eyes "Im sorry Alan, its just youre nothing compared to Austin, he is just so god damned perfect how could i ever like you?!" I said mocking a girls voice. After i was done her face changed from sadness to anger. "Actually thats not what i was going to fucking say! I was going to say i was sorry that Austin kissed me, i didnt start it!" "But bet you didnt stop it either" I growled "No i didnt because its nice to be wanted and fuck im glad i didnt stop him!" "Oh cry me a fucking river Kayla! Youre wanted by so many people and then there is me.....who isnt even wanted by my own fucking parents! The first girl to ever want me and not just to get closer to my cousin was killed by a drunk driver two god damn years ago!" I looked over at her with tears running down my faceand saw she was trying to hold back her own "And then i met you and i thought maybe after all this time.....maybe just fucking maybe i might have found someone who liked me more then Austin! So dont play that wanted bullshit on me , because i know that feeling more then anyone!" She placed her hand on my back and sniffled a bit "Im so so sorry Alan....i dont even know what to say.." "Dont say anything Kayla, theres nothing to say....Im use to it" I said it just loud enough for her to hear. After a few minutes of silence she spoke again "We except the love we think we deserve....thats from a book im reading called perks of being a wallflower....once i read those few words i realized they describe me....and well i dont deserve the love you have to offer Alan..." She left a few moments later and i just sat there the entire night thinking about what she said. Thinking about those words a few days after the party still made me want to sit in the corner of my room, blast Linkin Park, scream along to the lyrics and let a few tears fall! "God im such a fucking girl" i said to myself and hit my head of the text book i was suppose to be reading

*Alans POV*

Kayla and I decided to walk over to the beach when we were done at the park. Once we go there we sat down on the sand and I pulled her into my arms. “Kay...its fine with you if I do this right?” I looked down at her with worry. She giggled and kissed my cheek before nodding and nuzzling into me. “Alan...I’m kinda cold” she said and pouted up at me, I took off my sweater “Here put it on Kayla” I gave her a smile and draped it around her shoulders, she pulled it up to her face and snuggled back into my arms “But now aren’t you cold?” she asked “Nah, I’ve got a beautiful girl snuggling with me to keep me warm” She blushed a bit and I smirked down at her while brushing some hair out of her face. Truth was I actually was freezing, it was mid-October and I wasn’t use to the Canadian weather yet. Being from California I was use to the warmth 24/7, but here it was pretty much cold all the time!

*Kaylas POV*

I couldn’t believe how sweet Alan was, him and Austin had two completely different personalities; Austin was a little cocky and thought everyone should love him, while Alan was a sweet heart, cared about people other than himself and was also very modest.

Alan and I sat in silence for a bit until I realized that I really didn’t know much about the kid except for the fact he’s Austins cousin, and that he moved here from Cali. I looked up at him to see him already staring down at me “So Mr.Ashby....what does a boy like you do for fun?” I asked and smiled at him “Well music is my life, I play guitar, I am indeed a stoner, and Zooey Deschanel is my wife to be” I let out a little giggle “Zooey Dechanel huh?” he looked down at me and gave off a playful glare “Yes...she is my wife......is that funny to you miss?” he asked and I shook my head “Good! Because I can give you a real reason to laugh” he laughed as he said it and he smirked a bit, I moved away from him a little and looked up at him pretending to be scared “Dont you even think about it Ashb-” that’s all I got out before he attacked me with tickles, I tried to get away but he pinned me down under him so all I could do was squirm and laugh. “Please stop Alan!” I said in between giggles he growled playfully and continued tickling me “I shall never stop! You dare laugh at my love for that woman! You must be punished!” He chuckled and continued tickling for what seemed like hours. Once he finally stopped he got off of me and helped me to my feet “That was rude Alan” I said before sticking my tongue out “And so was laughing at me and Zooey!”

I told Alan that I would meet him at smokers after school, so I headed there straight after English. “Hey Kay, feeling any better?” he said once I got there and give me a weak smile. I turned around to see if anyone I knew was around “I’d really rather not talk about it here if that's okay?” He nodded “wanna go for a walk then?”He said while gestured over to the road.

Once we got a few blocks away from the school I opened up to him, I told him everything, from the shit about Austin, to the scars under my sleeves. Surprisingly it didn’t feel awkward at all, I felt like I could be myself with him and didn’t have to put on some fake act. I looked up at Alan once I had told him everything and noticed a sadness in his eyes “whats wrong?” I asked while nudging his shoulder a bit “Well....it makes me a little sad that someone as amazing as you feels so bad that they have to do that to themselves.” He looked over at me and without any warning pulled me into his arms “Things will get better okay, Kayla? I promise you they will” once he said those few words I could tell he actually cared about me, and that's something I never really had before. I rested my head on his chest and nodded “I hope you’re right Alan....i really do” I said while trying to hold back a few tears. He pulled my face up so I was looking at him straight in the eyes “I know it’s hard to see Kayla, but it will be one day” as he said it his eyes never left mine, and all I could do was look at him and nod.

We walked around for a bit more and stopped a random park in the middle of town; no one was there so it was just two teenagers playing around on the swings. I looked over at him and smiled, everything about that kid made me smile, the way his hair flipped at the ends, the way his beanies looked, his smile, his laugh, and voice, he was perfect. Before I realized what I was doing I rolled up my sleeve and started scratching at my cuts, Alan looked over at me and gave me the sternest look I have ever gotten “Kayla, you can’t do that or else they won’t heal!” he walked over to me and softened his face a bit “Do you mind if I take a look at them?” I shook my head and showed him the three cuts I had done the night before. Alan got on his knees in front of me to get a better look and ran his fingers over top of them, and the old scars “I am so sorry, Kayla” “why is that?” I asked “Because you don’t deserve this...you don’t deserve to be in so much pain, you deserve the world and all the beauty it has to offer” I looked down at him and tried to stop the tears from escaping my eyes “They hurt Alan...a lot...” before I could stop him Alan placed his lips on my wrist and kissed all the scars and cuts upon it. “There....now maybe they won’t hurt as much” He got up off his knees and wiped the tears from my eyes “Now! On a lighter note you are not swinging high enough! Want me to push you?” he asked as he brushed the sand of his pants “What kind of question is that Ashby?” I said with a smirk on my face “Of course I do!”

*Alans POV*

The next day at school was a little awkward. Once it hit lunch I looked over the caf and saw Kayla with a bunch of snotty looking girls, Austin with his group of friends and then a bunch of other clicks.....I had no idea where to sit. I sat down at an empty table in the very black and started to eat my lunch, a few minutes later I looked up and saw Justin standing there with a tray full of food “Mind if I sit here?” he asked and gave a half smile “sure..But won’t ‘Mr. Everything has to be my way and everyone has to love me’ get mad for sitting with me?” Justin laughed and sat down before picking at his French fries “Like I give a flying fuck...let him be mad at me” he said with his mouth full “I like you better than him anyways!” My mouth dropped “W-wait you like me better?” I was in shock; throughout my years of living no one had ever liked me more than Austin...and when I say no one I really do mean no one! When Austin lived in Cali, all my girlfriends, all my regular friends, my teachers, even my parents liked that boy better than me. The thought of always being in Austins shadow made me cringe.

Once lunch was over me and Justin headed to science and sat down in our seats. I looked over at Kayla and instantly saw something was wrong, her hair was a mess, her eyes were puffy and red, and she was wearing what looked like pajamas. “How are you Kayla?” I asked her with a bit of concern “Oh I’m fine I guess” she replied and obviously faked a smile.

Half way through class I decided to try and again to see what was up with her ‘Seriously Kay are you okay?’ I wrote it down on a piece of paper and handed it to her, yea I know a little elementary school but it was the only way I could ask. She handed the note back to me a few minutes later ‘I honestly could be much better’ I looked over and tried to give her a reassuring smile ‘Well after school wanna talk about it’ I handed the note back to her and after reading it she looked up at me and nodded.

I watched Alan and Austin from inside, and could tell something was up, but I wasn’t sure what they were saying. I shook my head and made sure Austin had left before going outside to see Alan. “What was that about?” Alan looked up at me and took a drag from his smoke before rolling his eyes “Nothing, just Austin has got his panties in a bunch over the fact that someone could like me more than him” “Ah yea, Austin can be like that...known him since ninth grade...every girl who has ever liked me he just had to steal” I groaned and looked over at Alan and gave a weak smile “But hey I know something that always cheers me up....maybe it does the same for you?” I grinned and opened my bag a bit for Alan to see “Fuck yes it does, mind sharing?” He smiled and I nodded before walking over to my car with him.

*Alans POV*

A few hours later, I got back to Austins house. Still feeling a little high and having a mad case of the munchies after all the weed me and Justin smoked I went straight to the kitchen and rummaged around only coming across some strawberry poptarts, I took a pack and went to my room before blasting ‘Mommy can I go out and kill tonight?’ by Misfits. “Turn that fucking shit down!” I heard Austin yell before bursting into my room. His face grew red in anger when he saw what I was eating “What the fuck Alan...First you try and take the girl I’ve been after and now my god damn poptarts?” I chuckled and continued eating “First off you make it sound like Kayla is a fucking deer you’re hunting, and second I didn’t know they were your poptarts okay?” I swallowed and threw the rest of the pack at Austin “Here take them...no need to get cranky because of a poptart” “It’s my fucking house who else would they be for?” He slammed my door and yelled through the walls “And again turn that shit down!” I rolled my eyes again and went back to screaming along with the Misfits “could he be any more of a drama queen?” I thought to myself

After the awkward moment with Alan and Austin I went straight to Emily. “Where the hell have you been? Ive was waiting here for like fifteen minutes Kayla!” “I was just talking to some people” I rolled my eyes “sorry I took so long”. She scoffed and got into her car; I followed and turned on the radio. “Why are we even going to the mall Emily?” “We are going to get you a lovely costume for Austins party!” she said while starting up the car.

We got to the mall a few minutes later and headed straight to Wal-mart, which was pretty much the only place here that we could get a costume! “Here!” she said while throwing a skanky tinker bell costume at me “Try it on” I did as she said and came back a few minutes later with it on “Umm....I don’t really know Em.....I’m not much of a fairy person” I said looking down at the costume, Emily rolled her eyes and grabbed another costume “fine then try this one on” I groaned and headed to the change room and came back wearing a little red riding hood costume. “Damn Kayla...you look hot” Emily said while looking at me “Hmm...I don’t really know” I wasn’t much of a dress like a slut person, even if it was Halloween “Well look who’s over there” she pointed to some guy in the mens section “isn’t he friends with Austin?” I looked over to see who she was talking about and saw a guy who I recognized from my science class “Uh...yea I think his name is Tino” I said a little shyly “Hey Tino!” Emily yelled with a smirk on her face “I need your opinion with something” Tino looked at us and started to walk over “Do I know you ladies?” he looked at us in confusion “Yea sorta I guess, I’m in your science class” I looked down as i said it and bit my lip “Oh you’re the girl Alan was sitting with today right?” He chuckled “Anyways how may I help you two?” I gave him a weak smile and Emily jumped right in “Do you or do you not agree that this costume was pretty much made for Kayla?” She said and pointed at me, my face turned red as he started to look me over “Well it looks pretty damn good from where I’m standing” he smirked and fixed his hair “See Kayla told you! This is the one! Now go change woman!” I went back in the change room and sighed before hitting my head against the wall “I don’t even want to go to this stupid party!” I mumbled under my breath before changing out of the costume and heading back out to wear Emily was. I looked over to her and noticed her talking to someone else; as I got closer I realize it was Mister Austin Carlile. “Oh, um hi Austin” I said still feeling a tad bit awkward from our earlier encounter “Hello there Kayla, fancy seeing you here” He smirked and looked down at the costume in my hand “Little red riding hood I see? Maybe I will have to go as the Big Bad Wolf” I gulped
