Main Building with snow by Rick Via Flickr: The Main Building at the University of Notre Dame with a fresh snow. It is 13 deg. F out, so not much chance of the snow melting. Photographed with a Nikon D300. 7 exposures 1EV apart were tone maped with Photomatix to produce an HDR image which was then converted to monochrome. This B&W image offered better light control in the hghlight areas vs. the straight images. Due to sodium vapour lighting in the surrounding community (not at ND), which reflects off of the sky when it is overcast, colour images tend to have a pink sky which I am not fond of. As a consequence unless the sky is clear, I routinely ether shout in B&W film or convert to B&W when using digital on campus at night.
