A unique photo showing construction on both the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge. Though neither bridge still exists today, their construction in the 1910s was the largest construction project ever undertaken in Washington State. Once completed, it was the first time that people from Catalina Island were finally able to meet people from Los Angeles in person instead of online.

Upon the famous meeting, President Gerald Ford said his most famous quote, "The meeting of two peoples is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed."
