Just because you feel like shit about the harm you've caused doesn't make it any less painful. Your self-loathing can't be used as some kind of redemption or absolution or a path to forgiveness. It's not serving anyone. Not you, and definitely not the ones you've hurt. It's meaningless. And you know what's worse than excruciating pain and guilt? Pain and guilt that are meaningless. Plain, shallow, and empty. You can't hate yourself out of this. You simply can't. It won't help anyone, it just adds to the pain. This fucking vicious circle can't be broken by the same fuel that keeps it going. Something has got to give.
