8300 Miles Alone!
“The man who goes alone can start today, but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready.” — Henry David Thoreau.
There you go, one good reason. If you’re still not satisfied enough, let me tell you one real life story. My solo travel adventure to Canada from 8000 miles away. I am from a southern city in India called Chennai and I love traveling. I’ve been to quite a few countries and about 15 states in India. But all of them with my parents or friends. I have never taken a trip alone and it was my first time traveling abroad all by myself. Not that it was a vacation but I was forced to get out of my comfort zone and travel to a whole new country for my studies. ALONE. And boy, it turned out to be great!
Throughout the journey, I had to take care of my stuff, board flights, and try not to oversleep and miss the connecting flight from London. I made friends with a couple from France who were telling me about how they met and why they were going to Toronto. I also made conversation with an old lady who lost her son recently but was coping well. I reached Canada and it was snowing! It felt amazing to walk on crunchy snow and I had a thorough experience getting drenched in the fresh snow and catching the flu next day.
I have made friends with people across the globe and have tasted several types of food after reaching here. I also celebrated Canada Day recently and it was a blast. I went out to see the Niagara, captured beautiful photos and came to know a lot about the 170ft falls. But out of everything else, I learned a huge thing. Who I am. I discovered unknown facts about myself on this journey that will help me grow in the future.
So, take a trip alone. Enjoy the nature and the experience. Come home with a big smile!
