So, we did the reading for April, and you can check out our thoughts on Twitter but for the rest of May, we will be reading On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden!
This is a graphic novel that centers around a love story set in space. I think it’s going to be incredibly lovely and touching.
You can grab the book on Amazon or at an Indie bookstore near you and join us! Our tentative twitter discussion date right now is May 27th 8pm EST
ok HI!
GUESS WHAT!!
800 PLUS IS NOT DEAD!
Ok so J and I needed a bit of a hiatus before jumping back into things. But we ARE still doing this. We are just going to jump into a new book in March! So get ready to read!! In a little bit!!
Guys? I don’t play sports but I’m pretty sure I just tripped near the end zone. I got tagged out when I tried to run from 3rd base to home. I hit the puck behind the goal. Ok enough of that, I forgot to post the book till the end of the month. :( But here it is! This month we have been reading “The Penelopiad” by Margaret Atwood. It’s a re-telling of the myth of Odysseus from the point of view of Penelope, his wife. This one is more of a short story than a full novel, so it’s a pretty quick read. Which means you can still join us if you want! Our discussion date is going to be December 3rd at 8pm est on Twitter.

Look at that, we are in the middle of July. So, of COURSE, I’m posting our July book right now. It wouldn’t be 800 Plus if I didn’t. xD This month we are reading another story that takes place in the past, but this one isn’t a romance (that I know of!) This month we are reading “The Devourers” by Indra Das.
This book seems right up our alley - check it out for yourself on Amazon or an indie bookstore near you to see if you’d like it too. If so, read with us! This month, our tentative discussion date is Monday, July 30th at 8pm EST on Twitter. But we are known to move our dates. Anyway, check it out and start reading!
Ok! So we had our chat about “A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue” by Mackenzi Lee. It was a really fun chat, and basically: if a queer 18th-century romance sounds up your alley, you will love this book. This is just a sample of all we tweeted, so search #800sPlus and #ViceAndVirtue to see what else we had to say!
Hello!! So, 800 Plus is still alive this month, we are just doing something a little different. Both of us wanted to take a little bit of a break, but we still love talking about books! Instead of reading something new, this month we’ll chat about some of our all-time favorites. Join us on Monday, May 28th at 8pm to see what we pick. Or, add your recommendations in the comments!
Hey guys! It’s (finally?!?!) chat time! We’ve been reading The Changeling by Victor LaValle. Boy, this one was... A LOT. In a very good way. Want to know how good? Join us for chat! Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 10th at 8pm EST we’ll do as much of a spoiler-free review we can.
