Okay, this is actually kind of crazy. True (and long) story:
The movie Pretty in Pink came out when I was in sixth grade. Yes, I am that old. I had not seen the movie and had no idea who Andrew McCarthy was. But, apparently everyone in my grade was obsessed with the movie and told me I looked like “Blane”. Then I started “going with” a girl who looked quite a bit like Molly Ringwald. So, she and others started calling us “Blane and Andie.” She even wrote notes to me using these names (documented below—I have a box full of letters/notes from when that was a thing). Remember, I had not seen the movie. Honestly, I still haven’t seen it, only clips.
Anyway, nobody has made that comparison since junior high, so I found this sweet and funny. Thanks for your message and kind words. I will pretend it was written on notebook paper and slipped into my locker. 💕
