Un intento de censura que no sonó

✊🏽 En 1982 surgió una moción sindical en el Reino Unido que buscaba prohibir el uso de sintetizadores en conciertos y grabaciones, con la intención de proteger a los trabajadores del gremio de la música contra el desempleo tecnológico.

El intento solo aceleraba el futuro de la música de las siguientes décadas a ritmo de un instrumento acusado de "carencia de emoción humana".

Vértebra dislocada, etc

El Calvario del baterista Phil Collins comenzó en 2007, una vértebra dislocada en el cuello desató un daño neurológico severo, la peor pesadilla para un músico; sus manos y brazos perdieron la fuerza ya no podía sostener las baquetas. Tras una cirugía en 2009, el diagnóstico fue implacable: las secuela serían permanentes. Hoy anuncia su retiro definitivo. Cinco años tenía cuando Phil Collins tocó una batería por primera vez.

Phil Collins, el legendario cantante pop de los 90, el insuperable baterista de Genesis en los 80, que toca los tambores desde los cinco años, ya se retiró de los escenarios debido a graves problemas de salud que le impedían seguir tocando y presentándose al nivel que se lo exigía la música. Y si hablamos de exigencia, Phil era el más estricto en lo técnico, por eso pasó de tocar la batería a liderar entera a su banda tras la partida de Peter Gabriel en los años 70 hasta generar una estética con su propio sonido en los años 80, pavimentando el camino una lista larga de artistas influenciados.

Phil Collins ha vendido aproximadamente 150 millones de discos en todo el mundo como solista, superando los 250 millones si se incluye su trabajo con la banda Genesis. Es uno de los tres únicos artistas de la historia —junto con Paul McCartney y Michael Jackson— que han vendido más de 100 millones de discos tanto como solista como con una banda.

R.I.P. Billy Steinberg

I was saddened to learn of the death of legendary Pop songwriter, Billy Steinberg on February 16 at the age of 75 after a battle of cancer. Along with writing partner Tom Kelly in the 80s and 90s, then Rick Nowels in the mid 90s, and finally Josh Alexander starting in the mid-2000s, he co-wrote over dozens and dozens of songs for the likes of Belinda Carlisle, Tina Turner, Pat Benatar, Taylor Dayne, Celine Dion, Cheap Trick, Bette Midler, and many more. Many of his compositions went on to become huge hits on the charts.

To honor Billy, here are my Top 10 favorite songs that he wrote:
