Woman Sick And Tired Of Mowing The Lawn Turns Her Yard Into An 80-Ton Sandbox

Mowing the lawn in is a pain in the butt, but few people are willing to truck in 80 tons of sand at $50 a ton to make their least favorite chore go away.
“Now being over 60, I’ve decided that I’ve owned the house for 33 years and that I wasn’t going to mow anymore or water,” Georgianna Reid, the Kansas City woman who turned her front yard into a makeshift beach, told KCTV5.
Neighbors refer to the house on East Meyer Boulevard and Walnut Street as the “sandbox.” While some admire Reid’s unique landscaping choice, others feel it just doesn’t fit in — to the point of making complaints to the city. Some angry citizens even went so far as to steal Reid’s volleyball net and life-sized chess set from the beach-front.
Despite all hoopla over her yard, Reid gives zero f**ks what her neighbors think.
“I would say, ‘I’m putting in the largest litter box in the world,’” she said.
