Thor definitely got lost in ginnungagap when he was younger , and was probably missing a good 2 - 3 weeks , fighting for his survival against all the sinister creatures that had fallen into the gaping maw before him , and lost their souls to darkness . he found his way out , and was the extremely fortunate 0.1% to do so , but he unfortunately didn’t escape alone .

a parasite , etched to his mind , visible only ever as a deathly creature in his periphery , latched on and drained him of his energy . he was driven to solitary confinement by the whispers and hallucinatory side - effects of having a monster from the gaping void leech off his brain , his soul , and it took a whole year to recover , with endless practitioners of Seiðr working their magic round the clock in an attempt to relieve him . in the end , obviously , he prevailed , but it still remains one of the most haunting experiences of his life .
