Initially raced by Scuderia Ferrari in various European events, subsequent to which it was shipped to New York as a spare/practice car for the 1936 Vanderbilt Cup. Brivio, Farina and Nuvolari drove it in practice, but it wasn't raced. It was sold post race to Bill White (purchase price with spares $9,500) and rebodied for Rex Mays to drive in 1937 and 1938.
