Today let’s talk 8 Meters...
On your take off, get somewhere. Have your comfortable foot forward so you don't false step.
If you want to go straight in, go little stick to make your stick smaller and protected between your shoulders
If you want to go big stick, take your step on the angle away from that defender to free up your stick for the shot.
If you want to let it rip, have at it, snipe that goal!

8-Meter Takeoffs - Two Ways
If you are really quick, take off as fast as you can, and go to small stick if you need between your shoulders.
You can also angle your feet and first step away from the defender on your stick side to gain more ground and get the goalie moving to take your shot.
*Be sure to have someone watch to make sure your first step gets you somewhere as most have what we call a false step.
