Throwback Thursday.
When I went to the 8th grade dance of the other junior high in my town. Pretty sure it was 1976. And I was a freshman. I was the date of the guy who was my first kiss during the Latin Club trip to Italy a few months earlier. If I remember correctly, I spent part of the evening dancing with my date’s friend (who I eventually wound up dating about a year later). He was very tall and had me stand on his feet while we danced. 🤷🏼♀️ I honestly don’t recall actually dancing with my date; I remember being overwhelmed by the amount of people there. (Yeah. I’ve been like that my entire life.)
This was in my backyard. The upper tier had a wall of slate around it. The branch there on the right is from the cherry tree that my Mom made pies from. We had an apple tree, too, that was farther to the left (my Mom made pies from that one, too). I loved that redwood fence, but other neighborhood kids would try to climb it and often broke the slats.
Until my recent move, I had this dress still in my closet. I may still have it. And I’m pretty sure I still have that necklace.
There actually was a time when I couldn’t gain weight if I tried. *sigh*
