this was the first time i had seen my name written out fully in this way. i’ve never used Mx. before, nor have i attended a national conference with my credentials at the end. it kind of shook me in a way.. especially to be in a completely heteronormative space. but i was happy and excited. everyone respected it, even beside the chuckles and side eyes. fuck it tho, by the end of that conference everyone knew who i was and wanted to know more about how i viewed my work.
my name is complicated and it hurts every single day with all the microaggressions i get. i know it’s not a ‘name’ and seems like more of a nickname cus of my blackness but it’s honestly all i have to help me describe myself to others. navigating this in between space of having a trans experience but not being trans is weird, hurtful, and so so confusing. bcus of the shit i get on the daily i feel like i’m gonna need to change it in the future, but to what? all the queer gender neutral names sound white and/or are already taken and overused.
idk, we’ll see. Babyface Card is all i have for now. it looks damn good all official and shit.
