Louis Tomlinson Wants To See More Bands Like Oasis: ‘Where’s All The Attitude Gone In Music?’

Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson went solo, but he still loves a good group act.

Tomlinson, 25, has kept very busy since the boy band’s temporary split in 2016. The singer has created anthems with Steve Aoki and Bebe Rexha and even put together a girl band. Despite making waves in the music industry, Tomlinson wants to see more chaos.

The “Back to You” singer criticized the state of music, wondering why so many groups are playing it safe.

In fact, these artists — Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Milburn — inspired Tomlinson’s new sound. “Because I’m from up north, I grew up loving the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Oasis,” he said in July. “And the way they tell stories is such an effortless thing. It’s real, it’s honest and it’s to the point, you know?”, he said. “Now, any of the Arctic Monkeys would be devastated to hear me talking like this, but there is a way of incorporating that conversational honesty into pop.”

“Again, that’s why bands like Arctic Monkeys are so great,” he continued. “They don’t work on any script or any maths or science. They just say what they feel. If it doesn’t rhyme, it doesn’t matter. If it sounds awkward, it doesn’t matter.”

Tomlinson has done just fine for himself as a solo act, with his first single “Just Hold On” going platinum and his follow-up with Rexha and Digital Farm Animals attaining gold certification.
