what is 9front 👉👈

it's an operating system! basically, bell labs (they made unix!) wanted an operating system that further iterated in unix's ideas (especially their "make everything a file" idea iirc). so they made an operating system called plan9. plan9 might have been the next big thing, except not too long into development a lot of resources were diverted to another project called inferno and then bell labs shut down. plan9 floated around in a hell of forks and poor licensing for a while before finally being adapted by some community members into 9front, the best current version of plan9! if you wanna know more check their website. also read analogue nowhere, surrealist online art project that includes references and characters based on 9front/plan9!
