God i never thought of that, it wouldve been so much easier than to transfer to completely different mythos and evil
right? I mean there are 9 chevrons on every gate. They find out that dialing the 8th chevron can send you to another galaxy. And no one even wonders what dialing the 9th chevron could possibly do. I mean maybe they were scared that it would send them too far, and well, they’d be right, but come on. Sam or Daniel would’ve thought about it
now we also have a deleted scene where Rodney and Zelenka actually do talk about it, but it’s a deleted scene. By the way, it’s about 32 seconds long, so I think they could’ve fit it somewhere
now not taking into account obvious cast issues, it still would’ve prepared the audience even without getting us invested into characters. S9-10 are about the Ancients, and guess what, “Ancient legend said the address led to great understanding. It could make you as powerful as the Gods. [...] I assume it meant God-like power. Like the ascended Ancients. If you could control time and space—” so there you go and that would’ve been intriguing enough to be interesting
the Lucian Alliance is absolutely ruthless in SGU, while in s9-10 they grow hallucinogenic corn or something? And Telford is right when he says “We freed billions of people, from thousands of years of slavery all over our galaxy, and then we patted ourselves on the back and left them little or no means for survival. What the hell did we think was going to happen?” After Earth defeated the Goa’uld they surprise surprise created a power vacuum. With the Jaffa going on their merry way and trying to build a functioning government (I like to think that eventually Ishta was elected president) that left billions of people on their own
so there you go. SG1 (with Sam in charge obviously) gets to go out there again and explore and meet new people (that they now have to help in a completely different way) and have all kinds of adventures like they do. And to find the right planet capable of dialing the address. But they also have to deal with the Lucian Alliance/power vacuum, the problem that the SGC/Free Jaffa Nation pretty much created themselves (by doing the right thing, granted)
Myth. Task. Obstacle
sounds pretty good to me
