#9WNYFW with Keiko Lynn

"During NYFW, I’m usually backstage as often as I’m attending the shows, covering the beauty behind the scenes. While sitting at a show and watching the runway is a lot more relaxing and less hectic, I actually enjoy backstage, quite a bit. Seeing the work that goes into each model’s look is incredibly inspiring; I learn so much, just by watching the artists in action."

"But since being backstage requires being on my feet for hours at a time, I usually choose my outfits with comfort and mobility in mind. I lose the heels and go for flats - or in this case, my Nine West boots - that can help me tiptoe around the artists and models without getting in anyone’s way.

I know that NYFW is a time for people to dress their best, but I have to find a balance between the two worlds of being a seated attendee and working behind the scenes. I'm more concerned about taking photographs than being in them, but still don't want to look like I rolled out of bed. The compromise? I dress like my usual self. I would wear this mod mini and my over-the-knee Noriko boots from Nine West any day of the week, but I especially appreciated them during this one."

"As I was packing for NYC, I realized that two colors were on major repeat in my fashion week wardrobe…black and white! Although I love the look and feel of a sleek black and white ensemble, I needed to add a little more variety to a few of my looks. I opted for pops of pink and my Nine West Leopard pumps."

"I wore this look on day two of NYFW. It was probably the busiest day, full of running to and from shows, along with attending a few fittings and meetings. The pink and subtle leopard were the perfect addition to this LBD!"

"I love New York, and I especially love New York during Fashion Week. This city is always magical of course, but the kind of infectious energy that seems to take over the city during fashion week is simply indescribable. And to be quite honest with you, this same energy takes over me as well."

"As I was getting ready to shoot this outfit, which just so happens to be one of my favorite looks, I decided to do something a little different and share a few images documenting my adventures during fashion week.

"I've been obsessed with prints as well as black, white and grey color combinations. So naturally, when I spotted this dress, I knew I found exactly what I was looking for. Because I wanted to create a clean, polished and modern look, I chose to pair this dress with my Nine West Amability pumps. 

"Aside from being really comfortable, which is so important during fashion week since I am running around all day long, I love how bold and edgy they are! I think the combination of leather and suede creates a very rich texture, and of course the caged detailing in the front makes such a bold statement!"

NYFW Recap: Keiko Lynn

"New York Fashion Week is akin to hopping around from mind to mind of each designer, and momentarily living in their alternate realities. Each show has a different point of view, from down-to-earth to utterly aspirational, wear off the racks and strictly editorial. Stepping backstage gives some insight into how much work each look requires, with all hands in motion at every moment: teasing hair, prepping nails, painting faces. But the chaos is left behind the scenes, as soon as the models step onto the runway or upon the stage. I feel privileged to experience both sides of the scene; it makes me appreciate the final package even more. All in all, it was a great, jam-packed week full of inspiration that will carry me through the season. The highlight of my week was entering a fantasy world of damsels in a dark forest, complete with a sleeping beauty and Rapunzel, with her braid cascading down a hill."
