Today marks N I N E years that we have been in business. Let’s be honest, that’s a long time for a restaurant and certainly one with a healthy concept. 🥑 We’ve watched our patrons grow, go to college, have children, move away, come back, play in the Olympics, win Stanley Cups and the World Series while we expanded multiple times, opened and closed cycling and yoga studios and survived a pandemic. November 10, 2010. The very first time I heard Taylor. The very first time I realized who my idol was. The very first time I heard the voice of an angel. The very first time I watched Taylor perform. I was 4 years old at the time. My mom was a huge country music fan at the moment. This is why she just happened to be watching the CMA’s. She was waiting for her favorite artist to come on- Keith Urban. I was in the kitchen, eating dinner, just being a normal 4 year old. I wasn’t paying attention at all as to what my mom was listening to, in the room over on the television. All the sudden I hear my mom say my name, “Anna Kate!” I remember quickly jerking my head around. “Come look at how pretty her dress is!” my mom said. I walked in to the living room. I looked up at the television and admired the person who my mom told me to look at. She had a beautiful gold dress- no- ball gown on. All sparkly and golden. She looked absolutely amazing. Like a goddess, to be exact. After looking at how gorgeous she was, I listened to her voice. It sounded like an angels from heaven. “Her names Taylor Swift,” my mom said. I was amazed by her. She was in the middle of performing one of her hits, “Back to December.” Still one of my all-time favorite song. Later that night I took out my old cracked iPad and I put her name into safari, with of course a few spelling errors. I realized what good she had done for the world. I found out so much more about her, like how she had 2 cats named Olivia and Meredith (and now has another named Benjamin Buttons). And about how many shows she has sold out. I heard about her secret sessions and after-concert meet and greets. I found out about all that she has done for her friends. The first concert I went to of hers was with my older cousin, my mom, and my aunt. It was the Speak Now tour. My first concert ever. There is only two things I regret about it. The fact that I was so little and tired and left early and the fact that I was messing around when I had the chance to actually touch the queen herself. Several years later, I’m now 13. I’ve been to a total of 3 Taylor Swift concerts. I now have a fan account on Instagram for her. I have spent hours and hours listening to her music. Most people would say that I have wasted those hours and I could’ve been doing ‘productive’ things with my life, but I have no regrets. No regrets at all. I was spending time listening to my idol, one person I absolutely love with all my heart and more. As many swifties say, “You come to the fandom because of her voice, but you stay for her personality.” I can’t tell you how true that is for me. Thank you, Taylor, for being the best person you can be. For being an inspiration. For being yourself. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who agrees with me when I say the rest of the swiftie fandom loves and admired you. These past nine years have been filled with joy because of you. There have for sure been a lot of proud Swiftie moments. Love you always Taylor and happy 9 years to me and you❣️
