i really wanna see more parent-child relationships in media where the parent goes the opposite way of raising their children compared to how they were raised, instead of the usual of continuing their generational ways.
(the only example i could remember off the top of my head that exists is Toph ATLA/ Legend of Korra who was raised by a strict family but then raised her kids by giving them too much freedom)
anyways i’m just thinking about this bc i’ve had a headcanon the reason why mrs rosehearts is so strict with riddle is bc she grew up in opposite conditions (where she probably didn’t grow up in the best household or was probably neglected or something)
so she built herself up to become successful but she became overly obsessed with keeping that as to not repeat how she was raised that she extended it to her son. like there’s good intentions but it’s executed not so great—
breaking generational trauma by creating a new kind of generational trauma lmao
