there was actually this one night vale episode that kind of hit me where it hurts like i didnt think it would make me so emotional

this isn’t the usual episode bc it’s like the first part of a mini-series within the podcast

grossly summarizing with vague details: cecil palmer (the narrator) tells the story of this girl, amelia anna alfaro, who was raised to be perfect and successful by her mother who wanted her to succeed bc she (the mother) wants her daughter to have a good life unlike her;

then it’s revealed that amelia has a Thing about her that makes life difficult for her despite her countless achievements, but she discovers she has a hobby she enjoys that makes that Thing go away, but this hobby her mother disapproves of—

the rest it continues with the usual supernatural where amelia goes missing along with the plane she was piloting

but yeah anyways there’s that bigger plot to it but this first part in isolation REALLY got to me

i really like warriors tbh!! i loveee the songs, they are so so hype in the beginning and some of them are really funny ("cardigans" ESPECIALLY) and some get me emotional especially towards the end

favorite hype one is "quiet girls" and favorite one to get me moody is "same train home"

i didn't know about the original movie/book though so i went into the musical blind not knowing what it's about; the only thing i knew about is that mr lin manuel miranda is a co-writer (with eisa davis)

it took a few listens to get me into it (and diving into the wiki and watching the original movie to understand more what it’s about) but otherwise i like it on its own :0

i think it's pretty cool they turned the main characters into women (which gives an interesting message in comparison to the original but i do not have the energy to get into all that + i'll be just going on a tangent aldsjdk)

crawled out of my hole (my room) and saw my family had been watching annie 2014, i literally haven’t seen or thought of that movie since forever

it was like one of the movies i watched every day when i was a kid (right there on top with frozen) to the point i have the movie memorized

next up on the list is venice the musical which gives like hamilton the musical vibes (and it doesnt help that leslie odom jr — the guy who played burr — is part of the cast)

mostly going in blind bc i dont remember the premise but this one yt video is how i found out about it

i’m sure i’m not the only one whos made this comparison but i finally gave alien stage a shot but damn yall were right hyuna looks like a fem jamil viper

it can be fun how i can get attached to media in a genre i usually don’t particularly care for until i give their story/characters a chance

this happened to me with a LOT of sci-fi and superhero genres and now it’s with circus/clown aesthetics
