kris the bully
discourse? i don't normally post chats here, but this is integral to her character
I was thinking about the books that Cheren reccommended for Kris I've read the Uglies series before and I think she'd really enjoy them! To Kill a Mockingbird would make her upset. I know a lot of high schools here have that book taught in 9th grade, so maybe she was assigned to read it over the summer or something. I think she liked it as she progressed but the ending left her contemplating things. Hmm The Outsiders yeah she'd like that book a lot she might even cry at the end aw You know I've never read The Hunger Games??? I wonder if kris would like those idk beats me I think she'd really enjoy that kind of..setting A future that isn't as utopian as many make it out to be or something hmmm The Great Gatsby would leave her with the thought "godDAMN rich people are weird", Animal Farm may very well go over her head the first read, and as much as I enjoyed Flowers for Algernon I dont think that'd be a book she enjoys Books I haven't read so I can't really speak for her.. Perks, The Handmaid's Tale, Looking For Alaska, Naomi & Elys No Kiss List ya .. I think I mentioned all of em Oh Yeah I think she really would've enjoyed the Series of Unfortunate Events She probably did book reports on all of them whenever she was in middle school Actually, I bet those books sparked her interest in words
style of learning
kris is so much better at learning from a person or an experience than a textbook
she can read the words on the page over and over but it just goes right through her brain if she doesn't actually apply it or see it in action
this is why she excels in some classes as opposed to others. it's gotta be show and tell, not just...lecture..
since the early battling classes were more concepts and less practice, she probably didn't do so well.
so topics like biology and history really just go over her head
english is alright, since she can write out an instance of a particular usage of grammar or something
you can imagine she does very well in sports (but thats just how she is yo)
she's a quick thinker! she's not dumb, just not traditionally book-smart. i think she could really get into reading if she gave it the chance. she probably reads nonfiction technical books about topics (mostly pokemon-care books) relevant to her. they have a lot of diagrams and practice methods that she likes
if you just tell her something she won't get it, then get frustrated and blow it off, "man this is straight up BULLSHIT"
she's very tactile
hmm
i'll probably learn about different styles of learning later on this semester and i'll address this later
