So, we know Desmond becomes the Reader. This probably ocurred due to the Eye. The Reader has a capacity to view timelines and tweak them, Precursor Style, right?
So, Desmond, touching the Eye, becoming a little more the Reader with each passing second, closer to dying and gaining more knowledge, gaining more influence.
