I need to write the worst, most devastating alternate universe in which time is thin, sam is aged up a little to make their university timelines overlap a teeeeny bit, and they are university exes with an age gap and a mild power dynamic who are incredibly professional who work together and fall back in love during s13 filming because its old habits with a new person you can't help but love tio but the distance is too much ao they just keep making things that have little love letters for the other in them and never acknowledge it until its almost too late.

Or i could write about a divorce. Just deviating paths they couldn't reconcile and misunderstandings. Getting into Something years later, unlabelled and unacknowledged but there between them, because they are getting older and more weary and at least with the other there is peace.

So I sat down to write, and realised it was about time I organised all my research into one place, because running around like a headless chicken every other line when I need to double check something or refer to some logistics is really annoying. I also have to plan a bunch of stuff, so now I have. A metric fuck ton of new documents that I am filling out and formatting one by one. At least for one of the I still only have a few sources lol.

Well. This is where we are with fic research for One Idea. This is my fourth idea and will likely influence my understanding of the other pre existing three. What the fuck. Sigh.

see. I love logistics. so much. (not math. least favourite thing = math.) and I also have a need for them to be plausible even in my rpf fan fiction, because "a basis in reality" or whatever. and sam's gonna be thinking about these details anyway.

so what that means is currently I am taking notes from gov(.)uk/marriages-civil-partnerships + gov(.)uk/divorce and cross referencing their wikipedias on what they would need (sam's an Irish citizen from what I know, and marriage in the UK is going to be so much simpler.) Thanks gov.uk. this is not going to be the first or only time. I am being prevented from going wild and digging into the narrative bc I need to figure out what kind of narrative makes sense, because do you know marriages require "giving notice" at least a month in advance? I did not! because that changes SO MUCH. like immediately. this is why I do logistical research in advance. Glad they have print versions and a single web page with all the info. ITS ABOUT THE ROMANCE OF PROPERTY DIVISION! THE COMPATIBILITY OF THE NEED TO BE ALONE! distant screeching.

okay back to research and writing the actual first part. lol. also. do not recommend a playlist with any death cab or folk music on it. it may be fitting but difficult to prevent tears due to the combination.

you absolutely may! okay so. [redacted] is a funnier way to refer to one of sam/tom WIPs, which is yet to be titled, and it's also mildly appropriate given its also reference to the amount of deception scam are involved in, somewhat unwillingly, and thus live up to their portmanteau of a ship name.

horrendous jokes aside, this fic is likely going to be, less of an au bc it is set in modern society, but it does incorporate fake dating/fake marriage/fake relationship because I enjoy putting tom into moral dilemmas. The age thing. The overall matrimony thing. you know. Sam "committed to thr bit" Denby and Tom "give the audience what they want" Scott ending up in the middle of A situation.

Somehow, this also takes place, at least partially, in a fictional future season of jet lag, and was partially inspired by the. Deutsche Bahn? It makes a lot more sense in my head that I cannot explain without giving away like. big chunks of the fic itself. The fictional season of jet lag is, of course, a game that I am designing the broad strokes of, plus figuring out the basics of an internal game economy based on my knowledge of the standard they usually do which I can now guess at from my watching, so I can reference this system in my fic. I am not good at plot but I CAN FIGURE OUT INTERESTING NARRATIVE GAME SHOW ARCS AND PATTERN RECOGNITION which. close enough. Tom is yearning and having A Time and so is Sam but in a different way and with more hero worship. I think I have proved I've lost my mind a lot more than may appear. So the thing is, right, i've got exams going on right now, and i've been a long time tom scott fan, but its pretty recently that the jet lag the game + wendover obsession hit. And the rpf of it all hit. It is much easier to resist writing tom scott rpf when sam denby who i adore now is not involved. And i am losing my fucking mind here instead of due to academic pressures which i am avoiding.

And now i am considering putting the game design things to use and plotting an entire future season of jetlag and game designing a whole thing with a basic estimate of an internal economy within the frameowrk of which i can dump sam and tom into. And because i also like motorsports sam can talk public transport and Sports if the travel routes centre around sporting venues and motorsports circuits and themed challenges like that one challenge in jltg australia where they built a "car" at albert park so you could possibly incorporate museums and car parks and mechanical stuff.

In melbourne, florida, theres a somewhat niche little car collection that could be relevant to the plot, and putting tom in entirely usamerican territory would be amusing because i simply want to see his reaction to many of the things, because they might be similar to mine. I don't know, another panicky season with a close loss or maybe a win for the scam duo, furthering whatever the fuck they are, some stupid vegas marriage thing because thats a classic and theres a nascar and an indycar race there. God. I am putting there here bc i cannot write right now. I simply do not have the time! And i already have a smaller snippwt in the works in my notes app. Save me.
