Jed - The Dream guy
I never really accept Facebook requests from randoms, except if a guy looks like my dream guy, then why not? Though I've never thought Facebook as a dating place.
He doesn't seem to start a conversation any time, so I ask him if we know each other from somewhere. "I do go a lot of gigs in Helsinki". We talk for a while and we seem to have surprisingly a lot in common and we like all the same bands. "This is great!", I think.
He doesn't tell so much of himself, but knowing that he's British (oh, the accent!) and that we share the same hobby is enough for now. But there has to be something wrong with a guy who's 42 and single, right? But maybe he's divorced? Also at this point you should know that I'm 22.
He seems sad that he's 20 years older than me "'cause we could hang out", but I don't even mind because I've never met a guy who's so cool than him! And my mom doesn't really need to know.
We talk for 3 months, but only about gigs, my "beautiful new profile pictures" and his band (Oh, so cool!) By the way, what's with the guys who always start a conversation on chat about your new profile picture? Why can't they just like it or comment on it like other people do? To me it seems like they don't want to show their interest publicly or there is something to hide.
For Christmas he goes to visit his family to the UK and promises to bring me a gift for our date when he'd come back and we could meet.
"We could meet next weekend at the gig?" - Never happened. He didn't even let me know whether he's coming or not.
"Next weekend I'll come to Helsinki." - Yeah, right.
"I'll bring you my gift too.'' - Mhmh..
And this guy really exists. He sends me (hot) pictures of himself and his super cool house.
After 3 months talking and 3 weeks of trying to make the date happen, I lose my nerves and trust on him and delete him from my friends. My life is so stressful at this point - I just broke up after 3 years, studying for the finals and I'm moving soon abroad for 6 months and now this guy is messing up my life. I decide to send him the last message supposing he'd just ignore it, just like he ignored me, but no.
"I'm sure you get these messages every day, but I just wanted to let you know, that I don't need anybody's sh*t in my life right now. It's not really a miracle that you are still single at that age, or whatever you are doing. It was nice ''knowing'' you, goodbye Jed.''
"What do you mean? Could you please explain? Why are you deleting me without a reason?"
"Are you being serious? If you don't get it, there is no need to bother your brain with it.''
''Yes I'm serious! Could you please explain what upset you and I could try to put it back?''
A real British gentleman...
''I really don't know why I ever accepted you as a friend and I never got your point talking to me in the first place.''
''Because I thought we are friends?''
''I don't know you, you don't know me. That's how much we are friends. Could you please not talk to me anymore?''
''I'm trying to talk to you now. ''
''Look, I never believed anything you said anyway, but I don't get why you even said you'd come to meet me cause obviously you never had any intention to do it anyway and it's fine. And don't worry, because I don't even want to meet you anymore.''
''Of course I'd like to meet you! I even bought your present here with me. But I did say if I couldn't get time off work to see you, I'd come to see you abroad.''
Yeah, well how about sending me a photo of the present? Since when did he start working at the weekends? And maybe travel first 2 hours to Helsinki before coming to see me abroad.
''Well whatever, I still don't believe anything you're saying.''
''Well then I guess it's up to me to prove it.''
After 6 months from that sentence I can tell you: Never happened. Surprised? I wasn't. And he wasn't.
