It is so fucking difficult to learn a second language. So I'm in my second year of American Sign Language (ASL) classes and I am required to attend a deaf event.
So here I was, walking into this coffee shop for a deaf event. Completely terrified, only half fluent, hands too shaky to fucking Sign. I was mixing up signs left and right.
And these sweet deaf people were so patient with me. I ended up barely signing with anyone other than my friend who came with me.
Anyone who has ever had to learn a second language, unable to speak your native one, I have SO MUCH respect for you. This shit is hard.
