All he could say was thank God for Vivienne, as the pills she’d brought him seemed to be hitting the spot. He had to figure out a way to properly thank her later, he decided, and he knew that it had to be something good - without them, he wasn’t entirely sure he’d be in the good grace’s of his nurses to be getting more. And he hated to think where he would be without any painkillers at all. Sitting up in bed had been a struggle, and now that he was up, he couldn’t get comfortable, the movements of his arms quite restricted. Everything was hazy, which was exactly how he liked it, and it wasn’t until there was a knock at his door that he realised he’d been staring through the window for the better part of however long. “Come,” he called, turning his attention to the door.
