Juan and Eva Perón
Many of the difficulties faced by Paul and Jane stemmed from her determination to continue her career as an actress. In October 1965, much against Paul’s wishes, she had joined the Bristol Old Vic Company, which meant that she spent a lot of her time out of London. Jane did not take drugs and was not comfortable when they were being used around her, and so she did not fit in easily with Paul’s druggy entourage. She preferred her own group of - mostly theatrical - friends, and asserted her right to lead her own life. At the Ashers’ house there had been little conflict in their lifestyles because they saw their friends separately.
