I posted this a while back [mid-spring, maybe?] but as I'm quickly approaching my 30th [gasp!], I think a few of these are more relevant now than ever before.
Any addendum's you'd like to make? [mine are at the end of the list]
How to fall in love without losing yourself. Additionally, how to fall in love with yourself.
How you feel about having kids. [Certainly. When it's my time]
How to quit a job, break up with a man and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
When to try harder and when to walk away. [thank you 2012]
How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn't like to happen next.
The names of: the secretary of state, your great-grandmother and the best tailor in town. [come on, y’all. I AM southern…]
How to live alone, even if you don't like to. [that was best year of my life…]
How to take control of your own birthday.
That you can't change the length of your calves or the width of your hips. [but high heels, spin class, and a vodka martini might help]
That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it's over. [my childhood was- in fact- quite perfect]
What you would and wouldn't do for money or love.
That nobody gets away with smoking, drinking, doing drugs or not flossing for very long.
Who you can trust, who you can't and why you shouldn't take it personally.
Not to apologize for something that isn't your fault. [still working on this one]
Why 'they' say life begins at 30.
And here are 15 additions of my own [circa December 2012]:
Discover how to unearth an inner fighter you never thought you would need.
Be comfortable asking for help. (This is something I constantly struggle with- and a gap I hope to void this year.)
Learn that being surrounded with good, honest, and caring people can be one of the best gifts you can ever give yourself.
Realize that surprising someone with a batch of brownies will always bring a smile to their face.
Treasure the value of a positive attitude.
Recognize that it's really quite okay for your world to begin and end with your friends and family.
Learn how to graciously admit defeat.
Discover that a fabulous tube of mascara really is worth the investment. [YSL "Shocking!" is my jam]
Believe that a 30 minute run can solve almost everything.
Do one thing that scares you everyday.
Be a passionate advocate for something.
Talk to strangers. They have great stories (& recipes!).
Write. Write more. Put your stories onto paper [ne- the computer]. Before long, you'll forget that they were stories at all.
