I was just looking at the post i just reblogged that has the triangle tattoo and for a second i was like - why the ankle? it’s discrete yes and it was one of his earlier tattoos. But why that particular part of the ankle. It’s a terrible spot to get tattooed - that area is very painful. it’s something that’s always made me wonder. but then it hit me…

It’s his Achilles Heel. Being gay is the thing that is his vulnerable point - the thing that can be used against him. And it has been. For years and years. And he knew it even back then.

OH MY GOD IF HARRY HAD A MATCHING TRIANGLE TATTOO, I WOULD ROCKET TO THE MOON. I like you, Anon. Yes, let’s talk about my favorite (non-matching) Louis tattoo. 

So the triangle in terms of LGBT symbols, started in a very sad way. 

The pink triangle was a Nazi concentration camp badge, used to identify men who had been sent there for being gay (or even suspected of being gay, I imagine), or sexual offenders (yes, rapists and pedophiles were lumped in with the gay men). 

So this was originally a very painful badge of shame. It was reclaimed as a symbol of LGBT pride/support, it’s almost as popular as the rainbow flag. 

The fact that Louis has it, and the fact that it’s almost always on display since he doesn’t wear socks, is amazing. I feel like people outside of the fandom sleep on that a lot.
