which is to say, i hope it never happens bc it’d be AWFUL, but equally character deaths are either incredibly emotional dramatic moments OR apparently utterly hilarious, & im so down for both
i doubt caleb would get a comedy death bc he’s too busy playing 4d chess constantly, but i can absolutely see his own cleverness -- or rather, his belief in his own cleverness -- coming back to bite him to death somehow
i think the only times that anyone in the m9 is in danger of dying rather than just going unconscious is either if they die before anyone has a chance to react (from high damage a la keyleth or enemy multiattack a la molly), or if the party is somehow split up/incapacitated/unable to respond, like when fjord was fighting the fish buggers practically alone on the top deck
tbh i think it says A Lot that the closest anyone in the m9 has come to dying for the last ~20 episodes has been that moment with disintegrate in vokodo’s lair. with that in mind i can 100% see caleb following in the footsteps of keyleth and saying ‘no one kills me but myself’ sdkfgh
