Encountered this Easter egg in Mass Effect 3 for fans of Robert W. Chambers’ The King In Yellow (which in turn is an Easter egg for fans of Ambrose Bierce, but I haven’t read Bierce before).
Carcosa is mentioned in Cassilda’s Song in TKiY:
Along the shore the cloud waves break, The twin suns sink behind the lake, The shadows lengthen In Carcosa. Strange is the night where black stars rise, And strange moons circle through the skies, But stranger still is Lost Carcosa. Songs that the Hyades shall sing, Where flap the tatters of the King, Must die unheard in Dim Carcosa. Song of my soul, my voice is dead, Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed Shall dry and die in Lost Carcosa.
Carcosa is one of the ruined cities that stands alongside Lake Hali (also the name of the smaller star here). The remnants of the throne room sounds like a reference to the King himself, and of course, there are twin suns here setting over Carcosa!
