It is most likely due to the deep sea pressure and our evolutionary traits. If you recall, when Miss Martian takes on the appearance of an Atlantean she herself becomes small to adapt to immense pressure. Though there is the case that Atlantean males may be affected by 'deep sea gigantism', but very minorly since I've noticed Garth, myself, and King Orin seem to be on the tall side of many of our companions on the surface world, but it is not as noticeable since it only affects us minorly and King Orin and myself both share DNA with someone of the surface world, so that may cause something to change as well. I hope this answers your question at least a bit. I myself am not really sure how this all works so my knowledge is limited.

Is Finding Nemo your favorite movie? Or is it Atlantis?
Finding Nemo is sweet, but again not really my favorite just because it's a movie based in the ocean. Personally I love Atlantis so yes that one is one of my favorites, but I also really like Treasure Planet. Both are very underrated Disney movies.
