wild to read that white laborers in the 17 and 1800s knew that slavery was terrible and they kept proving they knew it was terrible because they tried very hard to say that they, as people with paying jobs, had lives that were just as bad as--or even worse than!--enslaved Black men and women's lives. so they kept saying they were wage slaves (yes, racism is the origin of that term) and white slaves, but the campaign to use slavery as a metaphor for white labor concerns fell apart because nobody wanted to be compared to Black people 🥴
Summary/Spoilers for 文豪達のカフネ Vol.2 Sonohara Touson
Because I usually like Sawa Manaka’s cds, and his yandere ones. But this one was on a WHOLE new level of twistedness that I just needed to share and rant about. So don’t read if you don’t like spoilers/yandere stuff~
Background: Sonohara is a literary author who is always trying to come up with new ideas for his books, and seems to be struggling with it. Anyway,
You and Sonohara were childhood friends. He is your young uncle, but like an older brother to you. You were told by your father to go live with his brother, who is Sonohara.
You go and Sonohara is all "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH. It’s been 12 years and we can finally live together! and I can fulfill that promise i made to you!"
So you go "What??? i have a bf"
He’s in shock and denial. You say you don’t remember anything.
So Sonohara told you that the fact that your dad sent you to him is because your dad is in debt, and he was going to sell u to a random guy. But Sonohara offered instead to pay for you. Sonohara hates his brother, and his brother also apparently suspected Sonohara’s twisted love for you, and that was why you guys were separated 12 years ago. But now he has no choice but to give you to Sonohara for money.
And that’s why you were sent with a smile to the Sonohara’s house. And the promise made was when you guys were small children about you guys getting married that he took seriously for the past 12 years.
He brings out this wedding ring, which he totally guessed the size wrong for because it doesn’t fit on your finger. and so he jams it into your ring finger. And then it leads to him raping you.
Oh and you’re not allowed out of the house of course, which you later find out is because you have been having this illness.
Also he has all these photos of you guys when you were young with everyone's faces cut out, and he’s trying to help you remember your childhood memories with him.
One day you fainted and the last thing you hear is him calling someone to help.
So you wake up. He says how he’s sorry and how he didn’t your illness was this bad. Then he goes and procures this medicine and injects it into you, and it’s supposed to make you better. And so you actually do stop coughing, but feel super horny as well, and so you guys have sex some more.
[You later learn its a just an addictive drug, methamphetamine]
So you get addicted to it and need it every day. Side bonus is that it stops you from suffering from your illness.
He later jokingly says that you will probably die soon [that doesn’t seem much like a joke ahaha.........]. Then later mentions that he is there doing all injections because you cannot go outside and there is no cure for ur illness [at this point, it seems likely that you have tuberculosis because this is set in Meiji).
So you guys have sex every time you take the drug essentially (more like he’s super rough and raping u but anyways).
You also learn that the people in the pictures he showed you are just models he hired to reenact your old memories and help you remember [I think so at least. i wasn’t listening too much to the vocab].
As time goes on, your illness gets worse, and he says "you dont have much longer to live". You feel like you are about to die. He injects the last drug into you. You guys have sex, then you died.
Time skip. He’s kinda talking to u about how he is glad to have been together with you until the end, even though it was short. and then he noticed you [your corpse] are not wearing the wedding ring. He puts it on you, but this time the ring was too big and fell off.
He cries for a while. Then he laughs and ends the cd with "I'm glad I made it in time."
[And thats when I realized that he was troubled about new ideas for his book. He’s a struggling author who always wants new ideas. He’s probably going to use his "love" story with you and your death as material in his book. And that now with your death, he can make his deadline.]
The end.
[It was twisted on so many levels. HIs job as an author (because a lot of yandere cds he does have creative jobs that lead to insanity somehow), your childhood promise that he is obsessed over, TUBERCULOSIS, the drug]
Anyway, Sawa Manaka himself was like “well... that was interesting. ‘was it fun?’ uhhh not sure if it was fun or not lol.”
Anywaym yea... that was interesting.... too yan for me though.
