A. Sinclair - “Cars”
SXSW 2019 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 3
Pairs Well With…Walker Lukens, Ben Kweller, Spoon
A. Sinclair have played at the last five consecutive SXSW conferences and have consistently improved his sound year after year, culminating with last month’s full-length Catpaws. The Austin band’s third record, Catpaws bounces with indie rock spirit, embracing the pop centers of his music while maintaining a sense of modern groove. Psychedelic pop tracks like “Cars” sit comfortable next classic rock jammers like “Hurts So Good”, a balance expounded through A. Sinclair’s tightened, hook-welcoming songwriting.
2016 Review: A. Sinclair combines indie pop, alt rock and grunge influences on his 2014 record Pretty Girls, a nice collection for the solid singer-songwriter. There’s even a little alt country thrown in there (“How Many Ways”, “Yeah Me Too”), a relatively divers mix from the modern rock genre.
