How do you get motivation?

Like I can hype myself to do a chore all I want, but it won't work. I do hobbies by compulsion not enthusiasm. And I generally don't care much for things I used to love. Perhaps I just need to slow down and take a break, but that hasn't worked in the past.

So I think I managed to work around tumblrs secondary blog type mechanisms so now I can actually go back and follow/send ask to people that isn't from my personal (I'm just a dingus that found out how secondary blogs work too late -_-) so I hope I'm not too late for the sick ask...✔+💯 +🌡+👓

✔ - Favorite symptom to read

Predictably, sneezing is my fave <3 but I also love fever chills! Chills are just so subtle, I like when a character feeling colder than they should gives away the fact that they have a fever 

💯 - Do you prefer to see the number of the fever or that part be kept a mystery?

Tbh I’m probably in the minority here, but I don’t pay much attention to it (though if the number is like concerningly high ~103+, it can make me nervous 😭 If illness in sickfic ever gets to be life threatening / has long term effects, it’s not so self-indulgent to me anymore - just a personal thing)

🌡- Favorite type of thermometer to be used? Mercury? Digital? Ear? Those futuristic laser guns?

I think that at start of this year, I wouldn’t have had a preference, but... now I have to admit that a character waiting for the reading on a mercury thermometer and having to sneeze during the wait / trying to hold back is very appealing <3

👓 - Favorite fandom to write?

Genshin (to no one’s surprise) is my favorite atm! I’m pretty bad at being invested in multiple fandoms at once ;; there are a few others I used to write for (and also more that I’d currently read for)

The thing re Weird Al that I think is worth recognizing is illustrated by the Spike Jones Jr quote “One of the things that people don't realize about Dad's kind of music is, when you replace a C-sharp with a gunshot, it has to be a C-sharp gunshot or it sounds awful." It’s like really good parody has to do it all backwards and in heels, and Weird Al gets in there and counts the syllables and pores over the phrasing and word choices so that it all sounds precisely like the original, and then re-records the song, acknowledging the tiniest details of the recording, and also makes it a highly detailed spoof of an adjacent and absurdly unrelated piece of popular culture. I think really good parody has a love for the source materiel that’s impossible to fake. It takes real musicianship (or craft) to do and it usually gets tossed aside as “novelty” recording.

i didn’t think i’d find the psychology part of jiwoon so interesting but i really do. cause i often write him like... charming and lowkey kind, even, but like... is he tho?? i’ve always felt he most certainly has the capacity to care about someone that isn’t himself (see: yunjin) but it’s suuuper rare and often for his own personal gain in some way. that, or it’s some kind of obsession that isn’t healthy in the slightest. jiwoon has never had healthy relationships. his father was abusive and didn’t show him much love. he didn’t have friends until he met the members of N0 SPIN, and we all know what he did to them once it became clear they were in his way. like even if it seems like he’s genuine, even from the non-dialogue parts in my writing, like... please make no mistake. he will throw your character under the bus if it means he’ll gain something out of it. he might love them, but not more than he loves himself and his own success.
