IF we don’t get to see the priestess and the sinner with the most beautiful religious imagery and guilt and healing then fine. I will live. BUT I will also be dropping everything to write it myself.

“Now I feel nothing but her stream away the way she does, dead slow and fast as light like a galaxy that leaves behind one spark too low and dull to catch her silent drift; though somewhere out there in my turning dark they know each sunrise falling like a lift and white curve of her arm gone from the night.”
— Don Paterson, from “A Vow,” 40 Sonnets (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 2017)
ahh do you prefer the colder weather like fall?
I do.
you don't know what to feel anymore - a vow
Warning this post contains mentions of Animal injury and Death
Part of my work involves animals, being that i vowed to Corvus to help and protect those that i could. This vow came after I attempted to save a possum, who passed while i held him in the blanket i had used to get him off the road. I have a small plastic container sphere with some of his fur in it. He was nicknamed Fleetfoot.
Unfortunately that vow sometimes comes to me in the form of an animal being unable to go on, as was the case with the koala i had found tonight. I called the person i knew (a vet nurse) who took a look at his injuries and let me know he would have to pass on, they euthanised him.
I then went to my car and the compartment I keep a small bag of crystals in and the sphere of Fleetfoot's fur was open. The ball had rolled forward. I felt as though this was Fleetfoot saying that it was okay, it was the right decision for the Koala, and that he was safe.
May that koala rest easy now and be free in the afterlife wilds. May Corvus guide him to the Garden.
