Sendak held his kit tight to his chest as he made his way back over to the ship. He had been so scared when he lost sight of Illaru, thinking he had been kidnapped or something equally as horrible. The larger galra quietly licked the kit’s head, trying to calm him down as best he could.
As soon as they were back in the safety of the ship Sendak set the kit in one of the chairs and retrieved the first aid kit before taking out some disinfectant spray. “This may sting a little so just stay still, little one.”
He then carefully disinfected the wounds, cleaned them off, and wrapped them in bandages before backing up to look to the kit. “Illaru.. You know you’re not supposed to run off like that. You made me very worried.”
Candy. That was all she was getting and then go home to rest and finish some mechanic work. Candy. And maybe some other things... She told herself that was all she was going to do. But somehow after using the pay from the last job, the mercenary found herself all the way across town at the orphanage.
Anika stood at the door, knocking, hoping to see the little friend she made before and maybe being able to assist the caretaker in any means.
The royal palace was a big place and an exciting place if one knew where to look for fun.
When one’s Caretaker lost himself in a book or dozed off or had to focus on something else for a moment, there was a chance to Sneak Out, and Sneaking Out was definitely fun. The tall servants were good for piggyback rides, the kitchens always had cookies and the garden was huge, reaching as far as the forest, and the forest had glowing flowers and shining stones and monsters lurking in the shadows.
Of course, the best thing was when Lord Sendak wasn’t away on boring meetings, but Lord Sendak was Important, and he was away often. The Caretaker knew some fun things, like stories and swordplay, bur he knew a lot of boring things, too; and he wanted to share those things far more often than the fun ones. So Sneaking Out was always a prefered way to spend time and besides, when Lord Sendak came to end Sneaking Out, the servants and soldiers covered from his growl, and that was funny.
The day was bright, the corridors bathed in sharp sunlight and lunch just ended, and most people liked to take a little nap with their bellies full, even the Royals. Napping was good, too, but there were more boring lessons waiting in the afternoon, and the breeze sneaking in through the open windows carried scents and the doors weren’t locked.
"That's not exactly a good coping method." -Neladir
It was kind of pathetic, honestly. Such a small incident had set Nell off, and she was thoroughly embarrassed. Illaru had fallen and gotten a nose bleed, though it wasn’t serious. However in the process Nell had gotten blood on her hands, which was not something she could handle right now. So as soon as Neladir had Illaru settled, she snuck off to a bathroom to start trying to wash the blood out of her fur, but she didn’t stop there. She kept going, feeling like there was so much more there, she could almost see it, even when the water rolled off of her hands clearly. Hearing Neladir come in her head shot up, clearly tense and even looking a bit like a deer caught in the headlights, ears and tail down. “I…I know…” She all but whimpered
Their first kiss was hesitant. Unsure. They both wanted more, but were worried that so many things could go wrong. But it was gentle and honest, knowing they’d face whatever happened together.
Kiss 2
It grew easier with practice, to the point of the occasional peck in passing when they were busy with other things, like Neladir with his work and Nell with keeping up with the little kit that brought them together in the first place. She had just scooped Illaru up to take him to bed, as he had fallen asleep while they were keeping Neladir company in his office. She went over, gently pecking his lips. “Don’t stay up too late…” She said in a soft plea, getting a hum in response before she left.
Kiss 3
Everything had gone downhill. Fast. The Empire was in pieces and they were on the run. They were scared, but they couldn’t show it. When adults are scared, kits are terrified. Their hide out was being closed in on, and they were in no condition to run. However, Nell didn’t want to accept it. She’d always hoped she could go out swinging, and no better reason than to try and protect her new family. Without explanation she had gathered her blade and kissed Neladir, more passionately than she usually did, but they both knew she was going to try and do something stupid. He didn’t have a chance to stop her before she was going to face an army.
Kiss 4
Somehow, they had survived. They’d survived being hunted and tortured, and they were somehow still together. Nell was waiting for Neladir to wake up, as he had been hurt worse than her during the entire ordeal. Illaru was asleep snuggled up to him, having pitched such a fit when she tried to move him somewhere more comfortable. She was dozing off when she heard movement, ears perking up. She saw Neladir slowly waking, trying to sit up. She gently pushed him back down, tears already falling as she leaned forward. She had so much she wanted to say, but her relief beat all of it out. So instead she opted for kissing him, so relieved that she was still able to do so. They had survived. Even after they had parted, with no words spoken, she moved her chair closer and held his hand, simply relishing in being alive.
Kiss 5
After decaphobes of hardship and stress far greater than any amount of paperwork, the impossible had happened. The war was over. The Empire was under control. The universe was peaceful again. They could do as they pleased, which they took advantage of as soon as they could. Finding a quiet corner of the universe to call theirs, they made a home. Neladir was watching his small family playing in front of their house, Illaru older and bigger now, but that doesn’t mean he was too big to play with his Mama. And she enjoyed it just as much as him, though she couldn’t keep up as well anymore. Once it was break time she went up to the porch to cool off while Illaru relaxed on the ground. She went up to her mate, matching his soft expression as she gratefully accepted some water. She leaned up a little as he met her halfway, the two sharing a gentle kiss. We did it. They kept the promise they had made to each other with their first kiss, to face the universe together. And they survived.
With a few harmonizing notes, and some lyrics she had recently heard, he had managed to make her voice absolutely hypnotic. Not that other species besides Satyrian would hear it, though.
Matter of fact, actually, she was singing freaking K-pop. She’s absolutely hooked on it now, thanks to it popping up on spotify.
“Shimmie Shimmie KoKo bop, I think I like it~.”
When she sings, nobody else is usually around, so she can sing as loud as she wants, when she wanted to! But But she didn’t seem to notice the Galran kit in the room.
Midnight still looked at herself diligently in the mirror. She was getting the hang of turning herself invisible, and how she’ll appear in mirrors. Her eyes looked over herself in complete awe. She was actually a demon. She smiled, revealing strong, long fangs.
But she heard footsteps come her way. In a panic, she made herself invisible. She was still visible in the mirror, but she didn’t care about that, she just didn’t want to be seen at all.
